Aline Zoldbrod, Ph.D., a Boston-based licensed psychologist, is certified as a Sex Therapist and Diplomate by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists and the American Board of Sexology.

Dr. Zoldbrod completed her undergraduate work at Oberlin College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with high honors in Sociology and Anthropology. Dr. Zoldbrod was awarded her doctorate from Brandeis University after she won a special fellowship to pursue her doctoral research.
Dr. Zoldbrod is a three-time author, and her book SexSmart: How Your Childhood Shaped Your Sexual Life and What to Do About It (2005) is recommended by America's top sexologists as an empowering guide to enjoying intimacy and sexuality in relationships. SexSmart won ForeWord Magazine''s award for being one of the top three self-help books of the year. Her latest book is Sex Talk (New Harbinger, 2002). Dr. Zoldbrodâs self help booklet, Getting Around the Boulder in the Road: Using Imagery to Cope with Fertility Problems (Lexington, 1990) and her book Men, Women and Infertility: Intervention and Treatment Techniques (Lexington Books, 1993), both have been highly recommended by National RESOLVE (an infertility support organization) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Zoldbrod's other publications include articles in refereed journals, including Clinical Consultations in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medical Psychotherapy. She has contributed chapters in professional books, including Infertility Counseling: A Comprehensive Handbook for Clinicians (Parthenon, l999) and Female Sexual Dysfunction (Taylor and Francis, 2005).
Dr. Zoldbrod has been in practice for over 30 years, and she is known for her innovative, effective treatment and her warm and supportive manner. Her training includes bioenergetics, psychoanytically-oriented psychotherapy, hypnosis, imagery, and multimode behavior therapy. She is certified in EMDR, a proven treatment for psychological trauma.
Dr. Zoldbrod is a member of the American Psychological Association and many of its divisions. Dr. Zoldbrod served on the National Board of Directors of RESOLVE (a national support organization for infertile couples) for a decade (1983-1993) and continues to be involved with RESOLVE at national and local levels. She has lectured all over the US, in Canada, and Australia on her intervention techniques for couples struggling with infertility and miscarriage, directed to both infertility professionals and consumers.
She regularly presents her clinical work on sexuality at meetings of national professional groups such as American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Society for Sex Therapy and Research (SSTAR) and International Society for the Study of Women''s Sexual Health (ISSWSH).
Dr. Zoldbrod worked for several years as the sex therapist at the Lahey Center for Sexual Function in Peabody, Massachusetts. While there, she was involved in research to determine if Viagra will be helpful for women with arousal problems and other sexual disabilities. Her associates at Lahey Clinic Center for Sexual Function are also researching whether testosterone will prove useful for women with low sexual desire. Dr. Zoldbrod views women's problems in societal context, and she is most interested in the cultural and intra-psychic pressures on women to be perfect, thin, wives, mothers and superwomen.
Dr. Zoldbrod is also an expert in men''s issues. She is a member of APA''s Division on Men and Masculinity and has lectured from coast to coast, in Australia and Canada on the male reaction to sexual dysfunction, miscarriage and infertility. Special areas of interest include: men who are unwilling virgins, men''s sexual fears, men with sexual dysfunction, sexual addiction, Adult Child of Alcoholics (ACOA) issues, men who grew up with violent fathers, fathering, infertility, and coping with trauma.
Dr. Zoldbrod is frequently quoted in the national media about sexuality and relationships. She has also appeared on more than 100 radio stations, including Canadian, Irish, and British radio.
