dead clitoris-no sensation 5 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
My clitoris has no more sensation than my elbow. I can rub it and produce a physical state of arousal with swelling and moisture and orgasm, but there is no pleasure at all in any of this process. It isn't numbness: with numbness you feel numb! It's simply the clitoral area has lost its power to give me pleasure.
I did earlier apply a testosterone cream directly on the clitoris overnight; I have no idea if that could have had an effect. I take some medications which affect my desire and ability to orgasm, but nothing has been changed recently and nothing like this has ever happened before.
I have had this condition for over 6 weeks now. It might be hormonal, or it might be neurological (nerve problem). I am panicking.
Due to child sexual abuse, rape, endometriosis, hormone therapies, physical flashbacks, fear of touch, and psychotropic and antidepressive drugs, I have almost never had anything like a healthy, fun sex life. I am doing everything I can to make my sexuality possible and then this happens.
I am 36 and it is possible that I have early menopause, but that is not a symptom of menopause as far as I know.
HELP!!!!! Has this EVER happened to ANYBODY?????
------------------
Hi.
All I can offer you is my limited experience, which is: I was on Paxil and it completely deadened the sensation in my clitoris. Like you, it felt like my elbow. Any chance you're on Paxil?
Wishing you the best.

Dear Usmousie:
Changes in sensation such as you are describing are certainly worrisome and it is understandable that you feel in a panic, especially because of your very complex history. But something can likely be done to help you.
First, talk to your doctor about this, both your mental health provider and your gynecologist. Second, get a pelvix exam. Maybe there is something you cannot see that is causing the problem. Third, get some facts. Get a blood test to check your FSH to see if you are entering menopause. Hormones such as estrogen and testosterone can help this problem, so get a blood test for them to see if they are low. Also, get a urine and blood test for glucose. Diabetes can cause this type of problem but usually there are other symptoms such as increased thirst or urination. Fourth, think if anything recently has happened - a flashback of your sexual abuse, something that person did to your clitoris, anything that suddenly is focusing your attention more on your clitoris than before this problem started. Fifth, get the name of a qualified sex therapist. Once you get to the bottom of the problem, a solution will become clear.

Thank you for your kind and cool-headed advice. I needed that!!
I am in contact with a doctor in Great Britain who specialises in sexual problems, and he and three of his colleagues can't think of an answer except that it could be psychogenic, as you suggest as well. He doesn't want to believe that because he respects me but if four sex specialists (admittedly perhaps all older white males-- maybe not as proficient in femals conditions) can't think of anything...
I have had psychosomatic pain in the past, physical flashbacks. But this is a horse of a different color...
thanks!

Honey, I know where you're at. My posted problem is ok now for now, but because of medications I have very little interest in sex, can't climax except extreme circumstances, don't get excited when I used to, etc. My problem is pretty unsolvable because I have to take the meds that are causing the problems, but there is hope for you. Tell your gynecologist how important this is to you and if she or he doesn't want to help you, go to another gyn! You definitely need testosterone-- yes, women need testosterone too, it's what makes both men and women desire. And probably estrogen too. This will make a big difference. There's a book all about it "The Hormone of Desire" by Susan Rako, MD. In the meantime, there are other ways of pleasing your husband sexually. You may not always feel sexy yourself but maybe it could be nice or fun to dress up sexy and tease and seduce him into a BJ-- he owes you one when you are able to enjoy it!

Re: dead clitoris-no sensation 3 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
I have a very abusive back ground as well, had flahs back when my husband and I met 20 yrs ago. I had edometriosis burned off 5 yrs ago. I had a partial hys. (uterous removed) 2 yrs ago. My galbblader removed last yr. and a hernia repaired caused from galbblader removal at the beginning of this yr.
Since my uterous was removed two yrs ago I noticed the sensitivity decreasing in my clitoris. almost two months ago it completely stopped being sensitive. I've been trying different herbal creams, my husband and I have also purchased a vibe (which didn't do anything for me), a dildo and lube. I find that when my husband gives me a lower back message while I'm lying on my stomache I feel sensitivity in the clitoris. He has to rub the back from the curve right down to the buttocks and include the buttocks for this sensitivity to be their. I am able to have amazing orgasms after these messages. I'm also taking a vitamin B every day, 2 st. john's wort (for depression) and a herbal mix called "pleasure for her". I am getting feeling back slightly, but it's hit or miss. I never know when it's gonna be sensitive and when it's not.
The lower back messages have given me the best sensation so far.
