Red Hot Mamas own expert, Dr. Mache Seibel has an interesting take on health and healing through his new work focusing on music and medicine. It's amazing what music can do for the mind and body. Read Dr. Seibel's new article on Music and Medicine to find out more: http://www.redhotmamas.org/content/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=181&Itemid=103

There are many things women can do to increase postmenopausal zest. For instance, start learning to relax, exercising on a regular basis, eating properly, not smoking, consuming adequate calcium and vitamin D, and finding a good menopause clinician whom you can openly discuss your menopausal concerns. I sincerely believe you can outsmart your menopause symptoms and by adapting these measures you can protect your life now and in the future.

Funny story- Yesterday I went to the local pharmacy and asked the pharmacist what they had to relieve menopause symptoms. I was hoping they would point me to a little section of the pharmacy with over the counter menopause products. Boy, was I wrong. The pharmacist's reply was "Oh, just take Excedrin".

I have found sage tea is helping quite a bit with the 24/7 sweats 2 cups a day steeped for 15 minutes tastes not so good but palatable, my memory is shot as well as suffering miserable headaches very emotional-crying at the drop of a hat, no libdo and etc.But any relief is better than none!.

The best way I found to deal with hot flashes and mood swings was to give up all alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and refined flours. That really helped a lot. I also bought one of these: http://www.chilitechnology.com/ which is a mattress pad that cools the bed down at night (you can set any temperature you want and even set it on a timer. I didn't get the dual zone one, but they have one that allows you different temps for each side of the bed). It's really been an amazing help.
