TOPIC: Menapausal Relief

Menapausal Relief 2 Years ago Karma: 0
Does anyone have any experience using the Bella Sol elixer. I have severe night sweats/chills,nausea, RLS and insomnia, and flash overs. I've tried tapering to the lowest therapeutic range of Effexor with no luck. Taking a Turkish Towel, glass of ice water and hand fan to bed at night is the least romantic thing I can possibly imagine. HRT is out. I am a cancer survivor, further complicated by diabetes 1.5. This is not my mothers menopause!

I have never heard of Bella Sol elixer. What is it exactly? Where did you hear about it and have you brought it up with your doctor?

Don't you wish winter would last all year long?

Bella Sol elixir is what oncologists in the trade call it, combination of belladonna and phenobarbital elixir. It is an anti-cholinergenic. My oncologist reports most who use it love the stuff. I know I've been able to sleep better for the past couple of nights waking up only once in the night with-out sweeting my buns off. I'm just not fond of the idea of having to take so much medicne for menopause.

Hi Riri,
Thanks for logging onto our website. I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time with menopausal symptoms. You might want to ask your doctor to discuss recent studies on black cohosh. I'm certain that he/she could contact The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) www.menopause.org. NAMS may be able to supply your doctor information about the use of black cohosh in cancer patients and what some of the clinical trials outcomes have shown. You may also want to adapt some lifestyle changes, watching what you eat (hot spicy foods, alcohol); exercising more (women who exercise have less hot flashes than those who are sedentary); wearing layers of clothing and peeling them off and avoiding wearing nylon clothing which holds in the heat; try to avoid stress; no smoking; and keeping your bedroom cooler. These are some ideas and I certainly hope that you will write to us again to let us know how you are doing. I sincerely wish you luck and a speedy recovery.

I agree with you Riri, I don't like the idea of taking medication either. Even when I have a headache, I rarely take anything for it. But, when it completely impedes my lifestyle, something has to be done... especially when it comes to my beauty sleep! Exercise and diet can help more than you might think. But, I'm sure with your diabetes, you have to watch your diet closely anyways. How long does it take for the Bella Sol to kick in? I'd love to get more information on it.
