Okay, won't mention my site (which doesn't sell a dang thing!) but here's my approach again. Please do not delete the entire post, or if you do, can you at least tell me why? I'm trying to take out anything that could be construed as commercial.
First of all, no stimulants--no coffee, no tea, no cigarettes, no antidepressants (obviously do not go off of antidepressants to do this), no ginkgo or ginseng or any other herbal stimulant, nothing that raises serotonin levels except chocolate and exercise (and fish oil).
Second, eat dark chocolate every day. I eat an ounce or two.
Third, vitamin supplements. Take a good multivitamin (with 15 mg of zinc) every day, extra 400 IU of vitamin E, extra C (I drink lots of orange juice), fish oil six grams, full load of calcium/magnesium/zinc (1000/400/15), and iron (check with your doctor about the iron). I take 27 mg of iron every other day.
Fourth, exercise the heck out of your PC muscles. Kegels are not enough. I recommend vaginal cones weights. Get up to keeping in the heaviest weight. Or, alternately, if you can keep a stone egg inside you for twenty minutes, your PC muscles are strong enough.

Fifth, try the Zone diet or the Atkins diet, or just plain avoid starchy foods, especially processed starchy foods. Fruit is okay, and small amounts of stuff with sugar seem okay, and this one doesn't have to be too strict, the effects of eating starchy foods are very temporary, wear off in a few hours and then system's back to cycling. Try also to avoid transfats and vegetable oils like safflower oil and corn oil, interferes with the fish oil thing.
And that's it. Think impure thoughts, flex, and voila. Handy for waiting in line, handy for long drives, and especially handy during sex. Faster than any guy. These are different than the regular kind--not as strong, but still lots of fun, and no limit on how many, it seems, and if you do a lot of them it seems to bring on an altered state.
Nice side benefit of this diet, seems to help in a major way with depression, even if you don't try for the orgasms with the PC muscle exercise.
From research I've found that some things cut into the ability-- birth control pills, hysterectomies, and I'm not sure about menopause, and I think it helps to be over thirty and to have had a baby and to have a tendency towards depression, but really, honestly I think it's just a handy female knack that most women can do if they only knew that they could.

zaneblue,
How do you know if it's the combination or just one of the 5 steps, that is doing the trick for you?

Because I have used myself as a guinea pig. It's true that some of the steps taken individually will improve FSD somewhat; there are studies showing that. For example, I know women on antidepressant drugs and women who smoke who have benefitted simply from doing the vitamins/fish oil and chocolate. However, each of the steps contributes and reinforces the others. I have a baseline of high free testosterone from the vitamins (and I suspect from a high-protein diet) and that doesn't go away, but I have noticed a diminishing of orgasmic ability and desire when I have gone a week without chocolate, or drunk coffee, or smoked cigarettes, certainly from eating starchy meals, and when I deliberately let my muscle tone lapse one month. Also when I went off the vitamin program to try out a popular FSD supplement containing l-arginine and vitamins, I noticed a severe diminishing of my ability. The libido-robbing effects of being on antidepressant drugs and birth control pills I experienced earlier in life, and as those are well-documented I saw no need to attempt them again.
Of course, I am biased. But other women have tried my approach and had success too. My program is very safe--women on blood-thinning medications shouldn't take fish oil, and women who have stopped menstruating should check with their doctors about the iron, but other than that all the steps are harmless. I welcome women trying it and posting their results here, negative or positive. Just give it a chance to work.

Thank you for the reply. But don't you think that eating well and exercising is going to help with sexual response, physically, and sexual desire, psychologically, in most women, not to mention depression, feelings of well-being,..? Aside from the chocolate, isn't that what your plan is all about? We're certainly not alone in believing that healthy eating and exercise do wonders for the physical response as well as the psyche.
Your plan makes sense. Long-term high dose Vit E is supposedly good for other reasons also (at least 400 IU per day, as you said, but most multivitamins have just 40). Antioxidants fight free radicals which break down our bodies over time. Including lots of nuts and/or bran in your diet is a good source (but you'd have to eat a lot to get that much vit E). Did you hear of the study a few years ago that showed that rats (or was it mice) fed a low-calorie diet, i.e., were slightly underweight, lived longer? Their bodies produced fewer free radicals so the aging process was slowed. IMO your plan is good not only for sexual health, but for overall health in general. One question.... what in the world is a stone egg!?
[This message has been edited by sharon3 (edited 10 May 2003).]

Have you heard of "Ann Louise Gittelman"? She seems to have similar ideas to yours.

[Note: This message has been edited by NEWSHE Moderator]

It just seems a bit sad that we women have to do all these little extra things just to have what comes naturally to a man. What gives with that? I ain't fair!

I checked out the related diet, but aside from the Zone diet stuff, I wouldn't say it's the same. I do not recommend omega-6 fatty acids; I believe we get plenty of those in the modern diet and they interfere with the action of omega-3 fatty acids (I'm not surprised omega-3 fatty acids help bull sperm). I also have additional parts to my diet that are not included.
As for saying I'm just recommending live healthy, I'm not. I didn't say anything about exercise, except for exercising your PC muscles. I suppose saying to take a multi, vitamin E & C and calcium are general guidelines for healthy living, but I also am specifically saying take extra zinc, iron and magnesium, not to mention high-dose fish oil, much higher than recommended in that other diet. A woman can be incredibly orgasmic on my diet by eating a diet high in saturated fat--lots of fatty meat, butter, cream, etc. No weight loss is necessary; it works if a woman is overweight. I actually suspect it works better if a woman is overweight. I suppose no stimulants or alcohol could be considered healthy, but I am recommending women eat large amounts of chocolate. I am not recommending a generic "be healthy and you will have a better sex life." I'm recommending specific steps that help with a woman's dopamine and serotonin level, testosterone levels, and muscle tone and circulation. A "healthy" lowfat diet full of whole grains with sparing amounts of meat is the exact opposite of what I'm recommending.
And as for doing what comes naturally, I firmly believe that women were made to do this naturally, and it's just modern society that causes these problems. Humans did not evolve drinking coffee and eating lots of grain. They did eat lots of food high in omega-3 fatty acids--game, seafood and (ugh) bugs, and of course lots of vegetables and fruit. They didn't evolve sitting on chairs, they squatted to sit, which naturally exercises PC muscles. Chocolate is my only modern addition, and it's not exactly a hardship. I think women evolved having vaginal orgasms as naturally as men have orgasms.
I do suspect my program will help gay men have prostate orgasms (the corresponding male part to the female G-spot), although I haven't got much feedback about that yet. I'm not saying clitoral orgasms during heterosexual sex are as difficult as prostate orgasms during heterosexual sex, but I am saying that following my program vaginal orgasms are as easy as penile orgasms during heterosexual sex.
Oh, and as for the stone egg, I don't recommend them in general because I believe it's easier to get the proper muscle tone gradually working up from a light weight to a heavy one. A stone egg will exercise your PC muscles even harder than the heaviest vaginal cone weights, but for those women handy with their vaginas and already having decent PC muscle tone and wanting to save money, they can work out the PC muscles with a stone egg. You know the kind, available at gift shops the world over. Just get a small one undyed, made from the natural stone--alabaster or whatever. Put it in narrow end down and try to walk around for twenty minutes without it falling out. Voila.
[This message has been edited by zaneblue (edited 10 May 2003).]

I checked out your website and I think all your info is very helpful. I have noticed an increase in my libido since eating 3 tablespoons of flaxseed everyday (freshly ground seeds). This provides the Omega 3 fat we need. Thank you for all your posts!

I'm not knocking flaxseed, flaxseed is helpful (and tasty! ) but to really get the levels of omega-3 fatty acids for optimal female sexual functioning, you need high-dose fish oil and a lot of it. Six grams a day (less for the pharmaceutical-grade highly concentrated stuff). There's a workaround for vegetarians, some stuff derived from the algae the fish eat to make omega-3 fatty acids, but I'm hesitant to post the brand name here for fear my post will be deleted.

Yes I see. I haven't looked at your website yet. I think I'll just assume I'm ok with the egg.

I threw in the stone egg just to make it clear to the extremely zealous moderator that I was not hawking vaginal cone weights. In a pinch, a woman can get all the necessary stuff to turn herself into a sex goddess at her local shopping plaza. I'm not knocking all the other treatment options (okay, I am a little bit), but I think my approach is especially handy for women who are having difficulty or no luck with the doctor-prescribed options, and I see that a lot here.
This forum is frustrating because I can't post links to scientific studies supporting my individual points, and I have a lot.
