Question about vestibulectomy... 1 Year, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi everyone...

I have been suffering from vulvar vestibulitis for almost two years. July 25th I had a vestibulectomy, as well as a vaginal septum removed. My doctor told me it would take three months to know if the surgery really worked or not. I've seen him twice since the surgery and both times he said it looks like it's healing beautifully.
My only concern is that I still feel the same exact pain I felt prior to the surgery. I expected there to still be pain down there, but it's the type of pain that is concerning me. It doesn't feel any different than the pain from the VVS. I asked the doctor about it and he said he's too early to tell if it's pain from the surgery or if the surgery didn't work.

Basically what I'm asking is did anyone that had this surgery feel the same pain afterwards, and then have it go away? I'm really depressed/scared about this.

Thanks!

Hi,
(MirrorsTruth)
It has been quite a while since you posted on this site. I am three months post op. I still have same symptoms. I am curious what your results have been?

Go to the search button at the top of this page and type in vestibulectomy, then highlight the all open forums bar and hit search. That should bring up quite a number of posts from women with like questions. There will be a number of posts with different recovery times for each woman recovers at her own pace.

Hey,

I am about five months post op. I noticed a difference, yet I was/am still having pain. I last went to my doctor on New Year's Eve, and he said I'm having pelvic muscle spasms, which are probably responsible for the pain. He told me to get these dilators and do kegel-ish exercises. I just started a week and a half ago so it's hard to say if it's working.
