TOPIC: I found a lump...
#24647
I found a lump... 5 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
While inserting a tampon two days ago I found a lump on the right side of the entrance to my vagina. It is not tender to the touch or visually discolored. It feels pretty solid but not hard, just firm. It is approx. the size of a grape and the shape is oblong. My current period will end today. I have made an appt w/ my gyn but he has me scheduled 4 days out. I am a worrier by nature and doing double time at the moment. I would appreciate hearing any similar experiences.

There are a couple of benign (non-cancerous) growths that occur commonly in the vagina; one is called a Gartner's Duct cyst, which is a remnant from embryonic life, and another is called a Bartholin's Duct cyst. A qualified health professional should be able to diagnose either of these quickly and easily. Treatments, if needed, are simple and effective.
It is a good idea to get any "lump" in the genital area checked out, but odds are that it's nothing serious.
------------------
Supportive Guy
