Penile Prosthesis vs. Injections 4 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Just becoming a single man in his 60's who enjoys sex, but there is a problem with erectile function. 17 months ago I had a radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, and since that surgery, it has not performed. Should I have the prosthesis or continue with excusing myself and running to the bathroom to inject myself. It is also difficult when going out, then back to her place. It involves taking a needle with me in case it is needed. Has anyone out there had the prosthesis operation and I would like to know what and how you feel after that surgery.

I seem to recall with the prosthesis there's some sort of prep work too, listening to men talk.

hi,
i have used both the shots and now i have a penile implant. it took about a month for the function and desire to return. and that was a miserable month. fortunately, i did have lots of meds for the discomfort.
now that i have my ' penis pump', my love life has returned and my equipment is very functional again.
i dont know if your insurance would pay for it, but mine did. all $15000 worth.

Are there any support groups for men who have had a penile implant? I do not want to make the irreversible decision without talking to people who have done it. Doctors have no personal experience and will always give the book version of what to expect.

I also would like to ask questions of guys that have gone the implant route. I am considering it, but I have several concerns. Like, and I know this might sound like vanity, but the manufacturers websites describe the implant units and the largest is smaller than my penis. I would rather sacrifice rigidity than size, I do not know many men that would trade an inch or two for a stiffer erection. I always had a larger than average erection, and would be just as unhappy with a smaller penis than I am now with one that does not get hard enough for sex without injections. If there is someone out there that can answer this honestly I would like to hear about it.

Also, all the two and three stage systems I have studied include a squeeze pump "bulb" implanted in the scrotum between the testis, does that not look like a third ball? I am serious by the way, I know that discussion of some of these things is embarrassing, but this is life. I find doctors either do not or won't grasp these concerns, they focus on return of function over esthetics, and I see no use in restoring one at the cost of the other.
