There are two general types of
herpes viruses:
Herpes simplex
virus-1 - Manifests itself through blisters around the mouth area
Herpes simplex virus-2 - causes lesions and sores in the genital and
anus area.
Lesions appear in the mouth and genital area. In men, the sores appear on the
penis itself or around it. In women, lesions will appear outside or inside the
vagina. This is usually accompanied by uncomfortable
vaginal discharge.
Other signs of genital herpes infection include fever, muscle pain, headaches, painful urination, vaginal discharge and swollen lymph glands. Lesions develop three to seven days after being exposed to the virus.
If infected with genital herpes it is better to stay away from sunlight as much as possible. Too much exposure to the sun can irritate the skin further. Unscented bath and hygiene products should be used during treatment. A patient should wear loose clothing made of natural fabric such as cotton. Medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin can be taken to lessen the pain. Patting the irritated skin with cool, clean cloth can also soothe pain and discomfort. Infected persons should always wash their hands all the time and they should avoid touching the mouth or the eyes after touching the sores.
STD symptoms are rarely noticed until they are so obvious that you cannot notice them. Waiting until you show any STD symptoms can do more harm to your health than getting tested regularly for STDs. With the way the economy is today, your health is the one area of your life that you need to invest into. If you are sexually active, even if it is with the same partner, it is recommended that you get tested for the 6 most common sexually transmitted diseases and infections. This will help promote honesty within relationships and can possibly cut down on infidelity. When it comes to your health, don’t be at risk of not knowing, or knowing too late. I hope this will help you know more about this particular STD. Thanks!
