Alprostadil (SIC?) is what the VA gives me (same thing as Caverject), though in a dose so low I have to use both needles they supply to get one pretty good semi erection, they only allow 40 micrograms times two per month as a bureaucratic decision of the authors of the VA formulary. I have found using all 80 mcg's work well enough, though it means careful planning around the one erection a month I am allowed. That dose is a little beyond the upper limit of 60 they allow in the literature though, and if you have to buy it yourself it is VERY expensive, about 100 bucks a needle. So, to get an erection of good but semi rigidity would cost me about 200 dollars. Sometimes it makes for a really great erection, sometimes so-so, but unlike the pills it has never failed me completely.
I have tried pills, but they have side effects, in my case severe sinus pain and problems. I also see blue (or to be more accurate bluish black and white, like watching an old B&W TV that has a bluish tint to it, like the world is in black and white except for a little hint of blue). Lately the VA has stopped allowing me Viagra because they will not give it to smokers as of a couple months ago, but of course the real reason is they want to save money by rationing care more and more only to those that do not smoke, keep that in mind if you back government healthcare, is it free? Maybe, but you will not be.
Anyway, if you can stand sticking needles in your
penis this system is probably the best, for my part the needle is so small that it does not bother me. It does impact spontenaity as most every system does, but once you get used to it you can do it in a matter of under 10 minutes and the results are fast. You will also notice that you will tend to be a "shower" rather than a "grower" for a day or so.
Occasionally you hit a sensitive spot with the needle, but the gauge is so fine it actually sort of slips in by itself with very little pressure applied, nearly all the nerves are in the skin rather than the actual erectile tissues. Use a
condom for sure because you will be creating a port of entry for infection with this injection site. And should it bleed (has not happened to me) you would be putting your partner at risk, not to mention how unaesthetic blood can be for most people. It should only bleed for a minute if you do it right and even then not often. You really have to botch the injections to notice bleeding after the first minute.
The good thing about this drug is that it really works, I had not had a really throbbing stiff erection in years till the doctor gave me this. Not only that but I experienced "precum" for the first time in several years upon it's use. I had not really notice the absence of it before that, but I sure did once I saw it again.
I am considering an implant in order to do away with pills that make me hurt, needles, and all other means of erection that are really just prohibitively expensive, you have to be a lotto winner to pay out of pocket comfortably. I could wait for the promised genetic "cure" we read about these days, but I might also be a very old man before it happens, and even then it will likely cost more than any of us can pay, and it will not be covered by insurance for most. Better just to get that little pump in the
scrotum that makes you hard without a lot of waiting or side effects.
