When my bf and I have sex my inner labia swells up beyond its normal size. Sometimes it is only one side and feels sore and raw. It takes a day or two to go down to normal size. <P>Recently, we were having sex as usual and i felt a stinging pain. I was bleeding and there is a small 2cm cut on my inner labia. It is very painful and I dont know how I got it, its seems almost like a tear. <P>I was wondering if there are any suggestions of what is causing this or if there is anything i can do to prevent it!?

<BR>I am sorry that I can not answer your question. I am writing because I think I had a similar experience. In my situation, there was no pain during intercourse, just what my boyfriend perceived as un-lubricated tightness of my vagina (despite normal lubrication). Afterwards, it was he who discovered the stinging which revealed tiny wounds near the rim of his penis head. I get the sense that we had some kind of allergic reaction to each other as my secretions felt acidic and his wounds seemed almost like burns. I know that I have some form of Bacterial Vaginosis and my Doc intends to prescribe Metronidizaole when I see her in two weeks. I will share what I discover. I wish you all the best.

You sound like me. IM sorry i dont know what causes it i wish i knew to so i could fix the problem. My husband is verry understanding and trys to be paishent with me but it is frustrating for the both of us. It is possible that the swelling is your Bartholin's gland which releases secretions during sexual arousal to lubricate the opening (vestibule) of teh vagina. If the opening gets blocked, the gland can swell. It is also possibel that you may have a vestibulitis or a dermatologic condition of the vulva such as lichen planus.
