Dr. Goldstein

I'm rather confudsed. I just recently saw a doctor who is supposed to be a specialist in the area of vestibulitis and his views were quite different from most others I have heard.
He believes that vestibulectomy is NOT a permanent solution to vestibulitis and that in a large portion of women it returns in two years. He feels that the problems lies with the brain interpreting the nerves incorrectly and causing pain.
The surgery he performs is a total vestibulectomy with vaginal advancement except he says that he leaves a small portion of the vestibule located near the urethra. Is this anything like what you perform?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am booked for surgery with him in one month!

Re: Dr. Goldstein

There is no data or studies to support the contention that vestibulitis returns after vestibulectomy and it is completely different than our experience at the Center for Vulvovaginal Disorders where we have performed over 300 vestibulectomies over 15 years.

quote:
Originally posted by Amber:
I'm rather confudsed.
