lack of ovluation

HELP!! my obgyn says I do not ovulate. I am 30 years old, and have 3 children. all of them 22 months apart to the day. About a year and a half ago when I stopped taking b/c pills after my husband's vasctomey, I went several months without having a period. The only way that I can have a period is to take provera, or go back on b/c pills, which I don't like doing bacause of the side effects that I have relating to my levels of desire. I am now taking the b/c pills only when it has been several months since a cycle to make one happen when the pain in my ovary starts, or the water retention is bad. However, last night, after my husband and I made love, I began to bleed a little. It was blood like my cycle was starting, however, it was just in that moment, and I have had nothing else since. Any ideas as to what is going on, and has anyone else experienced this?
Re: lack of ovluation

Hi-
Lack of ovulation is a common problem- but it can have serious consequences if ignored. Because the lining of the uterus builds up excessively in many cases, women can have sudden, extremely heavy periods that may result in trips to the ER and even surgery and transfusion. Also, there is a slight increased risk of uterine cancer.
Some sort of hormonal treatment- either BCPs or progesterone- is most commonly prescribed for prevention of these complications. Good luck!
