Re: a question

Call me old fashioned but just have to ask why you (as a couple) are ready to make the committment to have a child but not make a committment to get married? I am a total believer that children thrive in a family with a full time dad and mom. So by not getting married you are not making the committment to stay together for the long term.

Re: a question

Congratulations on your engagement.
Now for your original question of when is it the best time to have sex to increase the chances for pregnancy here are some pointers. The only time you are even in a position to become pregnant is when you ovulate and an egg is present. After ovulation the egg stays in your womb for 3 days before it is expelled and leaves your system. So the answer is you need to be having sex during the time of ovulation. Most women that are on a normal 30 day menstral cycle will ovulate approximately 2 weeks after her period. Now everyone is different so you can't rely totally on a calander. So you need to recognize the other signs of ovulation. First thing you must monitor is your mucus discharge. As you get closer to ovuluation your mucus will become very slippery and egg white. You will notice a glide when wiping yourself after going to the bathroom. Second thing you can monitor is your body temp will increase during ovulation. To monitor this you must take your temperature with a basil thermometer every morning before you get out of bed. When you ovulate your temp will rise at least 0.4 degrees and stay there for the next week or so. The last sign is with your cervix. Your cervix is closed with a mucus plug prior to ovulation. Once you are beginning to ovulate the mucus plug will come out and your cervix will open up a bit to the width of a finger tip. So if you know how to locate your cervix and know how it feels you can do this check also.
Good luck!
