Re: LEEP Question
Hi Lindsay-
An ECC is a gentle sampling of the canal of the cervix- sort of like what's done in a Pap, only a little more tissue. It just takes a minute or two, causing minimal cramps.
Women who have had multiple surgeries on their cervix may have some problems with pregnancy, although it's rare.
The two issues are the possibility of decreases in cervical mucous- making it more difficult to conceive, and a weakening of the cervix itself, called cervical incompetence. You should see your doctor to discuss these two potential problems. Most women with this history do well.
Good luck!
