IUD after vestibulectomy?

I am 24 years old and had a vestibulectomy performed about a month ago. I still have a few more weeks until I can start having intercourse and such again, but I was wondering what your thoughts were about having an IUD?

The research seems to indicate that birth control has some sort of correlation to vestibulitis and I have been recommended to go off of it. In addition, about two years ago I developed erythema nodesum from the synthetic estrogen in the BC, so I am really trying to avoid going back on the pill in general.

What sorts of contraception do you recommend for people who cannot go on birth control? I am young, have had no children, and sex has obviously become such an issue already in my relationship. Diaphragms just seem like a nuiscance. How long should I wait before having the IUD procedure? Is it safe to even have this after the vestibulectomy? I know IUDs are safer than they used to be, but what are the side effects?

Please help!

Thanks so much.
