Masturbation

Hello - I have been divorced for 8 years and needless to say I haven't had sexual intercourse for that long. I do however masturbate. Is this normal. I feel very satisified, but for some reason I keep thinking this is wrong or something I should be ashamed of. I know all men masturbate, but do most woment masturbate as well or is it just a few of us. You input would be appreciated, since this isn't something I just bring up to my friends.

Re: Masturbation

This is very normal and safe! Plus there are many health benefits to orgasming. I think most women do, even if it is not talked about.

Re: Masturbation

I rarely used to come by the time my husband did, . I would be right on the brink thinking hurry hurry, hes going to come and then it will be over. Then after a couple of years I continued on my own, and he held me but it still took long because i was uncomfortable, and finally we are at the point were he usually satifies me first. Well, it took like 18 years, but its finally good.

Re: Masturbation

I want to share with you that a few years ago, during one woman's sonogram, the doctors observed her unborn baby girl masturbating! It is that natural for us to do things that feel good. I know I used to when I was a young child. I have to schedule it now, and don't enjoy it anymore, but I know that is because there is something WRONG with ME, and that it's perfectly natural and normal to masturbate. People who don't have problems like me enjoy masturbation and it is a healthy release. Don't judge yourself by women who have problems. The fact that you can masturbate shows that you have no problem like I do. (Or at least not in the desire department!) Be glad that you are healthy enough to enjoy yourself!

Re: Masturbation

I don't believe masturbation guilt is a gender specific problem. Believe it or not! I can say that it often gives me guilt even though I know it's a natural desire. Part may come from thinking I'm being selfish not sharing such "Joy" with my wife. When in reality she'd rather en"joy" her rest!!! It still is a problem that society raises us to feel that sex is dirty. And that if you self stimulate yourself you become some kind of sex freak weirdo. To quote my wife, "If God didn't want us to do it, he wouldn't have placed it exactly where our arms and hands naturally rest.. He would have put it in that spot on your back where it itches and no matter what you do you can't reach it to scratch it!" Don't feel bad if you still think, "it's only for bad people!" Even though my wife can come up with such witty observations. She still would never admit that she’d still participate in such activities! But, I also have to say that even though "all males do it", I still feel that I'm supposed act like I don't. I'd say enjoy yourself! And if you don't own a vibrator, than get one NOW!

Re: Masturbation

If it feels good and it is not taking the place of sexual activity with your partner, then go for it. What better way to explore your body and share what makes you feel good...

Re: Masturbation

There are several benefits to masturbation, besides the obvious!
1)It is a stress relief
2)It is probibly not what you want to hear (or read) But it is a great way to show a new lover how you like to be touched and what pleases you.
3)You don't have to worry about STD's

I am a little bit of a freak and my hubby is too and we enjoy mutual masturbation on nights when we want the release but are too tired to do anything else. It is a great way to break into a new sexual relationship without just jumping in blindfolded and not knowing where to go. In an old relationship it can also put spice back into what may have become a dull, hum-drum sex life.
I hope this helps!! Angela

Re: Masturbation

Miss Ann...
That is not a bad idea. I have found that mutual masturbation can be very exciting. But how do you convince one who is too tired to have intercourse to masturbate with you???

Re: Masturbation

Helpformygf, Actually it is very simple. Just explain that you want to learn what pleases her. Take her hand and place it on her (well, if I have to tell you that then there is another problem, lol)
As you watch her, talk to her. Tell her how hot it is making you and ask if she minds if you join her. BUT don't touch her unless she asks you to. That kinda defeats the whole purpose. Let her see that you are interested in seeing what turns her on. see what I mean? This can be very educational! Watch her hands. Watch what she does when she orgasms, does she slow down? Does she speed up or maybe even stop? All of these things will help you please her better and maybe inturn get her interested in sex once again!
I hope this helps and good luck to you both! Re: Masturbation

I think masturbation is natural a perfectly normal thing to do. It's a stress reliever and it helped a lot during the "dry spells" of my single years.
My fiance and I have been together for 2 years and I can only have an orgasm if I self-stimulate. We've talked and I've also shown him what works for me, but no matter what, he just can't hit the spot that I can.
Anyone else experience this?
[This message has been edited by gdubois (edited 19 July 2002).]
