Hair growing from the nipple???

Last night I was doing one of my nightly breast self-exams (which generally consists of me lying on my bed checking to see if the lumps have changed), and when I got to the nipple-squeezing part, I discovered a hair growing right out of the center of my right nipple! I was amazed. I got tweezers to see if it was really attached or just somehow got stuck in an upright possition. Well, I pulled it out. It didn't hurt and I felt absolutely nothing as it came out, but it had been rooted in my nipple. I thought hair didn't grow from the nipples. Should I be concerned? I also have white dots on my nipples, and occasionally when I squeeze, white stuff comes out. I can't tell whether this is dehydrated milk or if this is just some normal thing. I have to look really close to see them, but I can get my nipples very close to my face due to my breast size. 10 rather prominant white dots of varying size and shape on my right nipple (the one that had hair growing from it). There are a lot more than 10 on the left one, but no hair growing from it. What in the world is up with this??? Could this white stuff be an indicator that maybe I have excess prolactin? I have giant breasts, I wear a "38 I" bra. My actual band size is 36, so I could wear a K-cup, but who wants to do that? I can go up to 38 and wear an I, and I can actually find bras in that size. Maybe they're so big because they're swollen? And I don't even notice? They continually develop new stretch marks, and I go up a size occasionally, so they're still growing. For anyone who does not know, I have an endocrinologist appointment on July 9 regarding this issue, but only the growth, not the hair, or other such issues. Any ideas would be great. I don't know where to even look for info on this. Thanks.

Re: Hair growing from the nipple???

Anon, I don't know how normal it is but I remember as a child seeing my mother getting dressed and she has hair around her nipples, both. She is a small woman with only a b-cup breast. Sometimes it helps to know you are not alone and that is what I was wanting to do is let you know that you are not the only one that has that problem. Sorry I could not be more help.....Angela

Re: Hair growing from the nipple???

Hair there is definitly wierd, but the white dots I would say are normal, i have them too sometimes. I breastfed all 3 of my kids for almost a year each, and i told my dr once that a dot of milk is always in this one spot, and he said it was actually and extra ( duct??) and he has had patients that had extra nipples (smaller than the main one) down there stomach , just like bitches. ( by bitches of course I mean female dogs!!!)

Re: Hair growing from the nipple???

Missann, I have had hair growing AROUND my nipples for a long time, in fact 2 of them are always ingrown. What a pain (literally) it is to get those pulled out! I've been plucking hairs there for years, and I've had to dig the two out with a needle for many years. That's when poor sensation in the breasts comes in handy! What I'm upset about is that it's in the very center of the nipple. The place where the milk would come out. Right in the middle of all these white dots of ducts. And the ducts produce tiny hard pieces of milk. Not quite hard, not quite soft. Kind of like miniscule pieces of room-temperature grated cheese. Sorry if this sounds gross. I would say testing prolactin would be wise...but what about the hair? I'm not overly concerned about it. A little weird-placed hair is the least of my worries. Still, it would be nice to know whether this is an indicator of any other condition.

Re: Hair growing from the nipple???

Anon, Just wanted to let you know that I see a dermatologist and had ask him about the dots and bumps on my breasts. I am 28 and I know that you are about 23 so this may be the same deal with you. He told me that in young women with large breasts who have not had children it is more commonly known as acne. The dots or the bumps are actually just clogged pores from poor air circulation and sweating. He put me on a medication to contol the acne on my breasts and it has decreased the bumps significantly. As far as the hair, I have no idea.
------------------
Kristy, aka Sparklyeyes

Re: Hair growing from the nipple???

Yes, I do have acne on my breasts, but I was specifically refering to white dots on my nipples. I have found that just using acne face wash on my breasts daily helps reduce the breast acne, and it's not bad in winter, just in summer when I sweat so much.
I am wondering if the white molecules my nipples emit when squeezed could be milk. I ought to get prolactin tested.
Sparkleyeyes, I was also wondering if you could tell me what doctor you're going to and if he is really helping? I want to go to Steidle and Singh in Fort Wayne but am just in general seeking a good doctor. We live in the same city, so I figured if you have a good doctor, then he could probably help me, too. I have all sorts of fun medical concerns...digestive system problems, chronic productive cough, a rash in my armpits for months...I grow weary of searching for a descent doctor. Thanks.
