I am 29 yrs old, I had a hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and I kept my ovaries. I have been having<BR>signs of "the change" for about 6 months now,<BR>Someone told me that even though I still have my ovaries sometimes after surgery they stop working. I have lost almost all of my disire for sex, and I have had night sweats,<BR>hot flashes and bad mood changes. Does ANYONE out there have any answers for me???<BR>I do have an appointment on the 31st to be tested, What kind of test should I ask for, so I know I am not getting the run-a-round?<BR> Mandi

You are correct about hyst and ovaries and early menopause. I would recommend<BR>FSH,estradiol, free testosterone, total testosterone.<P>Maybe Alexander has some other suggestions. <BR>Are your Periods regular? When did you have your hyst? If it was recently, it can take a year for ovaries to get over the shock of surgery.

A really helpful book is Natural Hormone Balance for Women by Uzzi Reiss Md Ob/Gyn. IOIt isn't written fo Hyst patients speciffically but it will tell you all avbout hormones and how they affect you. Give you charts listing symto9ms of too little or too much of any particular hormone. It is now about $12 on the net. It will really help you in dealing with your physician.
