MAJOR PERIOD PROBLEM
i am a 25 healthy female. for the last year i have been having major period problems. my doctor's have given me tests to find out what's wrong! but they have not found anything. i know i am way to young to be going through menopause(am i)? a week before i get my period my breasts get sore...i can't even touch them...let alone wear a bra! i get what feels like a huge FEVER! i feel terrible the whole week. and when it does get here i bleed heavy for the first day. and it's gone in 3 days. why am i getting FEVERS(or could it be hot flashes)...because my temp. really doesn't go up. please help. should i change doctors, start some kind of hormone treatment or birth control. also could this be the cause of hair loss? the doctor's say besides this i am very healthy.

Re: MAJOR PERIOD PROBLEM

Go see a specialist. If your regular gyno can't diagnose it, there's got to be a problem with them and I'd get a new doctor. I have also experienced extreme breast tenderness that's lasted about a week before placebo week, and I don't know of any other way of treating it than to grin and bear it. Do over the counter painkillers work for you?
I hope you find a good doctor before it becomes a big problem.
Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.
Hollywood

Re: MAJOR PERIOD PROBLEM

This will sound weird but pregnant women are told to put cabbage leaves ( whole ones) onto their breasts as a way of cooling them down during lactation.
So presumeably it could work for you to.
I'm using NFP methods of contraception and my temp is high before a period then on the day I'm to start it plummets. They say that a risen temp indicates ovulation / presence of an egg.
The whole bleeding thing has got shorter with age. It use to be a week now it is down to 3 days max.
Any way I would also recommend getting a second medical opinion. Given that menstration is natural anything that stops you living a full life should be investigated.

Re: MAJOR PERIOD PROBLEM

Hair loss has me thinking low testosterone, but there are many other causes, so who knows?
Do you have low libido or anything like that?
No, you're not too young for menopause. There was one poster on this board who went through menopause at age 14! She had what's known as Premature Ovarian Failure (POF).
Ask your mom when she went through menopause. It's just like your first period--you will most likely start around the age your mom started.
Most women do not go through menopause as young as you are, but it DOES happen to some women.
Also, you may want to have estrogen and progesterone checked. Even slight hormonal imbalances can reak havok on your body like what you describe!
Sorry I cannot help much with the other issues!
In case you want to visit my testosterone page, it is at mama.indstate.edu/users/anon/fsd/test.html
