Re: to mavis

Sunshinerise,
I read your post re fear.
Are you saying that the symptoms of cystitis were caused by your mind because you were afraid of getting hurt or of getting an infection?
When I had cystitis, the symptoms came and went for over a year. So I think that your symptoms could come back from time to time, but that doesn't necessarily mean you are getting the symptoms for psychological reasons.
Have your symptoms been coming and going since you first got them?
You said that you didn't have any tests done for cystitis. I think the urologist would have known from the symptoms that it was cystitis, but I think s/he would have had to do a urine test to rule out a bacterial infection. If it wasn't done already, maybe you could get this test done to see if anything shows up.
If you do a web search for 'interstitial cystitis' or just for 'cystitis' you can see what recommendations there are for helping to get rid of it.
Did you have any loss of sensation in the clitoris/urethra?
Mavis

Re: to mavis

I don't like water either but after two of the constant bladder infections backed into my kidneys and I ended up in the hospital I LEARNT!!!. It isn't a joke, you absolutely have to drink a lot of water, soda just puts more strain on your kidneys. What makes it easier for me is I have a big ( 1 quart) plastic glass which I keep in the fridge. I only have to drink two of those (instead of just easier to deal with. In every other country in the world you can get fizzy water, kind of like club soda ( but with out so much salt) and I love that stuff. When I lived in the Northeast I drank flavored POLAND SPRING which was good too. Where I live now I'm lucky to find any bottled water but look around maybe you will find flavored fizzy water (make sure it doesn't contain sugar). BTW I'm always dieting and I can tell you the days I drink at least 2 quarts are the days I lose weight. It also helps with lubrication and it will keep those infections away !!!
[This message has been edited by the siren (edited 14 August 2002).]

Re: to mavis

Sunshinerise,
It sounds like you're saying that your physical problems are cleared up and that you think the problem you have now is all in your head???
If that's the case, then I think the person to see should be someone who specialises in psychosexual issues.
You have said in the fear thread that there is a woman you can talk to, so maybe she can direct you to someone who can help you.
Best of luck.
