Shaving......

Ok I know I read on here some where about shaving your pubic hair off but I can't find it! Anyways, I really hate pubic hair and have always kept my short and shaved up alittle bit! However I decided to get rid of it all, not sure I like the way it looks but I couldn't get it too be real smooth! I can't use nair, I'm allergic to it or something! Also what about in-grown hairs? I think I'll let it grow back in alittle because it's not really great to look at but just thought I'd see what others do/use!!
Moeell

Re: Shaving......

Hi Moeell, There is really no way to make it completely smooth when you shave . The best thing you can do is to shave against the grain. instead of with the way the hair grows. Of course doing this you risk razor burn but that is the only way to make it smoother. Also, they have come out with a new product. It helps the hair grow back slower and softer with use. I'll e-mail you the info so it doesn't get zapped Angela

Re: Shaving......

The only way to get that real smooth feel and look is waxing. It's not just for models! My wife does that now and the hair grows back softer. She used to shave it daily. I now shave mine each morning in the shower, leaving a little on top. ) We agreed that if most guys like it shaved, how do they think the women feel about going down there in a forest. What's good for the goose...
Mine stays pretty smooth until the next morning, but at first, it takes a couple of weeks for the skin to get use to it and stop getting red and bumpy, but using a puff helps with that. It's just part of my shower routine now. Definitely, shave against the grain. I'm not sure most people realize how many men shave there as well.

Re: Shaving......

I only wish my hubby would take my advice and 'clean' up down there! I don't mean to get personal but it's so bushy and long and just gross! I usually don't let it bother me but when you get a hair in your mouth it's kinda gross! But of coarse I love him so that includes his hair
Moeell

Re: Shaving......

before you waste your money go to consumerbeware.com it is a site that5 deals with all the hair removal methods. (moderator this is not a commercial site) and check out the info and the forums. Most of those creams DO NOT WORK. I'm doing lazer hair removal, already had the bikini area done and had am moving down the thigh as I can afford it.Lazer is expensive BUT is permanent if the correct lazer is used. There are more lazers out there that don't work than DO so check it out!!!

Re: Shaving......

Get your pubic hair professionally waxed or if you are a glutton for pain (just kidding), have them zapped off with electroalysis. This entails a professional removing your pubic hair for you. Don't use Nair or other products not intended for the vaginal area. A professional can help you and apply it for you.
Re: Shaving......

I think that brazilian waxing is becoming more popular now, but i heard that its quite uncomfortable when the hair is growing back as it becomes quite ichy. To overcome ingrown hairs, i read somewhere that if you scrub tea tree cleanser with a loofah in that area then apply moisturiser after, as this softens the skin and makes it easier for the hair to pierce the skin, it might overcome the ingrown hair problem. Maybe dont go totally brazilian, (as i think that it would be totally uncomfortable and embarrasing) but just leave a stip as this may overcome the ichyness problem when the hair grows back.
------------------
Belinda Flores

[Note: This message has been edited by NEWSHE Moderator]

Re: Shaving......

I've been clean-shaven since I was 17, and love it. Like other posters, I shave against the grain.
Tips:
1) Never use a dull blade, and try to use one with a moisture strip. I use a brand that has little, tiny wires over the blade, as well, so I don't cut myself )
2) Exfoliate dry skin with puff or loofah (I am glad to see some men know this, too!!)
3) Apply gentle shaving cream (a sensative-skin or moisturizing type) to area about 2 minutes before shaving it. This will soften both skin and hair, making it easier to shave.
4) After shaving, cleanse with a gentle, anti-bactierial soap. A dermatologist-recommended facial bar works well, and isn't too expensive.
5) Pat dry. Don't rub.
6) Use a vitamin-E rich moisturizer, preferably unscented and non-comedigenic ( am sure I spelled that wrong). Make sure, however, not to get the moisturizer into your vagina, or ontot the mucus membranes directly surrounding it.
7) Wear cotton, well-fitting underpanties. This allows the skin to breathe, and prevents irritation from "rubbing" of looser garments.
I actually would love to wax, but most of the salons around here won't do it. Those that do are so expensive as to be prohibitive. So, I shave. Your skin will become acclimated to it over time, usually a few weeks, and it will get smoother and easier. Also, if you shave only every other day or two (yes, you will be abit picky on those days), it will help reduce any tendancy towards bumps or ingrown hairs.
My only other insight is that if a woman is shaved and her man isn't, it can be uncomfortable in some positions. The shaved skin is very sensative (which is nice, most of the time), and his hair can rub if you're not careful.

Re: Shaving......

I wouldn't recommend going completely hairless down there. That's hard to maintain. Once any ingrown hairs or the itching kicks in, who'd want to do that again any time soon. I know of something that I use that you might consider. Its a beard and mustache trimmer. It's in the small appliances section of some stores like Target. They go for around $15. Pretty affordable and you can trim things down to whatever length works for you. Generally shorter on the lips down there and that whole "nether region". On the front though longer a bit. It's what is comfortable for me. The trimmer brand is CONAIR. Here's a link for one that is very similar to the one I use If that doesn't work for you do a google search on CONAIR then click on the link and go to Personal Grooming then to TRIMMERS. Scroll down to the one that is second to last. It's model Model: GMT170QCS just so you know which one I'm talking about.

If you do shave don't use a cheap razor. Get a good one, a double blade one is good. I wouldn't get a triple or quadruple blade. That seems a little bit much. Definately use some sensitive skin shaving cream for women. Don't rush..lord knows a knick down there hurts like heck.

Remember too guys are usually double standard on this and want there women's area kept nice and trimmed but do they consider trimming theirs! No!

Re: Shaving......

Do a Google search on "personal shaver". I use the Body Bare. No nicks or cuts. It doesn't get quite as smooth as they advertise but I'm not doing it for photo shoots anyway (ha!!), and since I don't expect to get any "company" there anytime soon it's just for my own comfort anyway. I just like to keep things neat!
