Re: Testosterone 2%
It doesn't take a math whiz to figure some alternatives to applying 5g of product from either Testim or Androgel.
Testim, from what I've heard, comes in a dispenser (tube) that allows the user to dispense less than 5 grams at a time. Once a user finds out what a gram or half a gram looks like, then it's probably pretty accurate. You know if you use 1g/day a tube ought to last 5 days. If it doesn't, the you know you've applied too much, if it lasts longer, apply a bit more.
Androgel is easily (perhaps easily is an overstatment) removed from the packet and transferred to a 5-10 cc syringe. Then the user can dispense in any prescribed amount in doses as little as 1/5 cc.
A 1cc volume dose will give a delivered dose of about 1mg per day - a pretty reasonable dose for many. I believe AG starts at 0.5g (cc)/day and works up.
What's too much - well, I think one ought to use the lowest dose that give appropriate relief without getting way above the "norm" ranges of the FAI or EqD Free T test.
This method is almost completely comparable to the methods used for compounded product. The only difference is the source of the drug, compounded vs. mass manufactured.
On another subject...
I'm planning to ask around, but wonder if the the folks at the pharma found that a 1% product was better delivered than a 2% product, thus they only produced a 1% gel or cream product. I just know that for a man, applying 5g to as much as 10g of product, one would nearly be slathering their whole torso with androgel. *grin* Given that I've wondered why they only produced a 1% product. I suppose one real problem would be measureing much smaller doses.
Cheers,
Greg
[This message has been edited by distressed_12345 (edited 17 June 2003).]
