Need a Dr in WI

I'm in desperate need of finding a good Dr in WI that will help me with my lack of desire. I've been to no less than 7 Dr's in central WI and have been told that "there is no such thing as a testosterone test, it's all in your head and you need to see shrink, you're depressed and need an antidepressant, antidepressants don't cause lack of libido, bcp don't cause libido problems ect ect ect."
I just want a Dr that will at least test my testosterone levels so I can go on from there or at least rule that out as a problem. Yes, I have tried numerous antidepressants, have gone to counseling and seen a shrink (both of whom agreed that there is a definate hormone connection).
So I'm stuck in a place where the Dr's that can do something about it won't and the ones that would can't.
I am willing to travel to eastern MN, IA or nothern IL but prefer WI due to insurance restrictions.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Re: Need a Dr in WI

BB1,
I'm pretty new to this board, but it's my understanding that we're not supposed to recommend doctors here. . .(?) Anyone else please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm not a physician, but I have a friend who is, and she regularly prescribes certain birth control pills for low sex drive. . .the pills with the higher androgen (testosterone) levels. You might want to talk to a doctor about going this route.
Have you seen an OB-Gyn about this, or an internist, or both? I would think an OB-Gyn would take your problem seriously. However, beware. . .I live in northeast Minnesota, and many of the OB-Gyns in my town are VERY conservative family values Christian types. In fact, the large clinic in town has almost its entire OB-Gyn staff dominated by that political group.
Clearly, you need to seek out a doctor who does not have rigid, judgemental attitudes about sex in general and female sexuality in particular. It could be that the trouble you've had so far being "heard" by your doctors is due to their beliefs about sex. Also, many doctors just don't know a lot about sexual problems of women and are sort of embarrassed by their lack of knowledge.
I don't know how far you can travel, but if you want information about M.D.s in this region (not that I'm a complete expert) you can email me. My email address is listed in my profile.
Ruby
