Orgasm, sexual abuse and Amlivil

I was raped as a child and have had sexual problems all my life. After many years of therapy :~), I finally am having a very good sex life with my husband. But, I am still unable to have him stimulate me to orgasm, orally, with fingers, or a vibrator! I used to be able to masturbate to orgasm, but can't do that anymore either, even with a vibrator. I do take Prozac, but honestly can't remember if this situation was different before I started taking it. I have discussed this with my therapist, but my therapist hasn't been very helpful. I guess what I am wondering is if this is psychological or physical. I saw an episode of "Berman and Berman" in which Amlivil was discussed, and all the comments were positive. I would like to take it. I would like to hear if any of you are taking it and if it has helped you. I would also really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had similar experiences. Thanks so very much.

Re: Orgasm, sexual abuse and Amlivil

I think you might have better success if your doctor is willing to switch your antidepressant from Prozac to Wellbutrin.
My name is Marrena Lindberg, and I thank everyone here for their support over the years.*Author of "The Orgasmic Diet". Read an exerpt from the book at www.hisandherhealth.com/the-book-nook/22...is-new-book-can-help also click on the video link on that page.

Re: Orgasm, sexual abuse and Amlivil

I agree with "blue", I'm on Wellbutrin and Buspar, both of which are the least likely to impair your sexual response; as told to me by my Psych. when I specifically asked her about my own lack of blood flow. I also have to say that I looked up the "Av-L-M" product on the web and found it to be very expensive. When they put you on a regimented automatic supply ship program I became very suspicious; but they do say that you can change that to "order upon request". I too am interested in actual results about the product.

Re: Orgasm, sexual abuse and Amlivil

Thank you for responding to my post! I have been taking Prozac for almost ten years, and am very afraid to go off of it. I did start taking Avlimil, so I'll let you know if it does anything :~) Aren't Wellbutrin and Buspar the same drug: bupropion? Just curious. Thanks again.

Re: Orgasm, sexual abuse and Amlivil

I recall really going "down hill" (after 'bout six yrs on Wellbutrin alone. I was in the initial drug study for FDA approval for Wellbutrin), when the Buspar was added to my "receipe". It helped a great deal; still keeps me on my feet. My Buspar bottle says: buspirone HCL; the Wellbutrin says: bupropion hydrochloride. That's all I can tell you.
