TOPIC: Period Question

Period Question

A few days ago I started having the symptoms of a yeast infection...the discharge, itching, burning. It was like 2 days before I was going to start my period. (My periods are very regular due to bc. So I know what day I'm going to start.) Anyway...I started treating it, and two days later I started my period. My question is...is it ok to use tampons if I have a yeast infection? It isn't a bad one, and to be honest it seems like being on my period has helped it because it seems to have almost gone away. I didn't wear tampons the first day of my period, but I hate pads so I've been using tampons today. I just wanted to make sure it is ok to use them if you have a yeast infection. Thanks
------------------
~Holly~

Re: Period Question

Everything I have read about treating yeast infections indicates that it is NOT ok to use tampons during treatment. Read the inside of the box of treatment stuff to see what it says.
I guess the reason is that you have blood, treatment cream, and infection...do you really want a tampon to hold that IN your body??? My totally uneducated opinion is that all of that stuff is trying to make it's way OUT of your body, and mixing the three could give you a really nasty infection!!
See what anyone else says, and if you need an experts opinion, call Planned Parenthood. Your local telephone book should have some type of "ask a nurse" hotline for questions like this.
Good luck!
Tracie
