Can vibrator use eventually diminish orgasms?

Help! For years I had been very orgasmic. Mind you, I had not had multiple orgasms but 98% of the time, when I had sex, I had an orgasm. And with little to no clitoral stimulation. A friend talked me into going to a "Toy" party in which I purchased a silver bullet. That was about 2 or 3 years ago. I have used it frequently & now & finding it difficult to impossible to have an orgasm without using the vibrator. It's like I'm addicted or something. What has happened & can I correct this problem? I have tried to limit it's use but I cannot have an orgasm without it & don't want to go a lifetime without having another orgasm! I am even finding that it is taking me longer to reach orgasm now so I am really starting to get scared. Any advice? Please help!

Re: Can vibrator use eventually diminish orgasms?

The downside to vibrators--too much of a good thing. I don't think they actually cause nerve damage or desensitization, but oftentimes they do make it harder because you get spoiled. Men sometimes get this problem too when they always use the same hard fast masturbation stroke, then they have difficulty coming during sex.
The good news is that you can go back, especially if it's only been a couple years. Cut down on the frequency, and when you do have an orgasm, get yourself as close as you can manually, and then finish off with the vibrator on its lowest setting. It's a gradual process requiring willpower, but eventually your body will respond to more gentle stimulation. You just need to recondition yourself.
Also, if you do use the vibrator the way you have been, don't let it take longer. If you don't orgasm after your regular amount of time, just shut it off. It won't kill you.
[This message has been edited by zaneblue (edited 28 September 2003).]

I doubt this applies to you, I suspect Zane's comments are more apt, but perhaps you can tuck this info into your head and come back if what Zane recommended doesn't work.
Low testosterone and estrogen levels can harm sexual function. In particular, low testosterone can cause massive loss of sensation, and even a loss of ability to orgasm. If, given a course of Zane's "treatment" you don't find a solution, then perhaps you ought to consider looking more closely and hormonal/physical issues.
Hope you find an answer.
Cheers,
Greg
------------------
See the icons at the top of this post for my profile and more information.
Also note, I am *not* a doctor, and this is not intended as medical advice - Please talk to your doctor about your concerns.

Is that necessary? Putting hormonal deficiency in every thread? You're on your way to making us all hypochondriacs. Of course anything's always POSSIBLE. There's something to be said for good old fashion common sense and intuition!

quote:
Originally posted by distressed_12345:
I doubt this applies to you, I suspect Zane's comments are more apt, but perhaps you can tuck this info into your head and come back if what Zane recommended doesn't work.
Low testosterone and estrogen levels can harm sexual function.
