Ovulation question

Ok, I have a question, I finished my period on the 28th of October. Before I had that period, I knew I ovulated on the left side because of the pain. I normally dont ovulate on the right side because I get alot of cysts over there. Actually I dont ever remember ovulating on the right to where I felt it anyway. So yesterday the 11/5, I was running on the treadmil, and had some bad cramping on the right side just like I do when I ovulate on the left, and it happened on and off all throughout the day and it hurt really bad. NOW I am having another period?????? Is that normal? I have never had this happen before? I am 30 incase anyone needs that info, and have had kids. THANKS! for any help or ideas!!!

Re: Ovulation question

I'm not a gynecologist, but I would say that is definitely not normal. There was one study done recently that showed ovulation was more haphazard than previously thought, but I am skeptical.
From what I know, while a woman can obviously have more than one egg released during any ovulational period (explaining non-identical twins, etc.), all the eggs are released within 24 hours of each other. And then afterwards there is a fixed period of time (generally two weeks or so) before the onset of a woman's period. While the cramping on your right side may have been an egg--the onset of ovulation can be sped up for a number of reasons--you wouldn't then immediately start having your period. I'd go get checked by your gynecologist if I were you.
Is it a full period that you are having now? Does the blood look the usual color?

Re: Ovulation question

Zaneblue, the blood was heavy and bright red the first few hours, then it slowed down and it lasted a total of almost 3 days. I was looking on webmd, because I get cysts on that side, and the ones I always get shouldnt have anything to do with bleeding, but there was another type of cyst on there that is also a normal noncancer type, where it said the "eggshell" can become caught when it splits and blood collects, etc and it will either break, or will grow, and then you would have to go to the doctor to have the blood drawn out of the area. I think from that, I figured out that had to be what happened. Now, everything is gone, and nothing had happened since, I have ran again and everything. It was really weird though. I go to the doctor in the beginning of December any, but if it happens again, or I get more pain, I am going immediately! Thanks for your info though!
