Re: For zane blue

Hooray! I must be getting the word out, thank God. I've been on this soapbox for two years now.
My website has some of the science behind it, but I can post the entire thing here quite easily. Here it is:
First of all, no stimulants--no coffee, no tea, no cigarettes, no antidepressants (obviously do not go off of antidepressants to do this), no ginkgo or ginseng or any other herbal stimulant. And no hormonal birth control like birth control pills.
Second, eat a couple ounces of dark chocolate every day.
Third, vitamin supplements. Take a good multivitamin (with 15 mg of zinc) every day, extra 400 IU of vitamin E, extra C (I drink lots of orange juice), fish oil six grams, full load of calcium/magnesium/zinc (1000/400/15), and iron (check with your doctor about the iron). I take 27 mg of iron every other day. Do not take high-dose fish oil like this if you are on blood-thinning medication or aspirin therapy.
Fourth, exercise your PC muscles. Kegels are not enough. I recommend vaginal cone weights, work your way up to the fifth weight.
Fifth, try the Zone diet or the Atkins diet for meals before having relations.
Additional tips--the more you stay on the Zone diet, the better. Protein at every meal should be the goal. Also, and I know this sounds silly, I think eating extra-sharp cheese every day helps the process.
After reading your post about your visit, I think the diet may help in two ways. It reduces SHBG and it balances serotonin and dopamine similar to Wellbutrin. It can't hurt to try it.
[This message has been edited by zaneblue (edited 19 December 2003).]

Re: For zane blue

zaneblue I think your diet is awsome.
I am taking omega-3 fatty acids/fish oil/flax seed oil/ and echinacea.
My question is how much fish oil do you think I should take?
Im not too sure if I am taking the right amount or if I am taking too little.
The bottle says 1000 MG.
and the back says EPA 360 mg
DHA 240 mg
It says to take 2 a day. I have no idea if I am taking the right amount for my problem which is low libido. Can you help me to figure out if this is a good amount for me? Should I be taking more ...or less?
Your imput would be greatly apperciated!
Re: For zane blue

Well, I usually recommend six grams of fish oil a day, which would be six of the pills you are already taking. However, I would be rather leery in your situation of doing that, because you have sky-high testosterone levels, and fish oil affects hormone levels (and the serotonin/dopamine balance too).
In your situation I believe you should put your libido issues on the back burner, because I believe there might be a serious health issue causing your unusual hormone levels. Of course serious illness usually lowers libido too. I would camp out in an endocrinologist's office and not leave until I had a diagnosis.
Oh, also I don't recommend echinacea for FSD (although it's handy for temporarily boosting the immune system during flu season or whatever). And you'd have to drink ridiculous amounts of flaxseed oil to get the levels of omega-3 fatty acids because it's a precursor (and one with low levels).
My diet is very specific. I know it sounds a lot like I'm just saying to eat healthy and get your vitamins, but it's really a very particular set of directions.
[This message has been edited by zaneblue (edited 20 December 2003).]

Re: For zane blue

Thanks for your reply!!
6 of the pills I am taking sounds like a lot! Do you think that 2 a day does anything in your opinion? Would it really be 6 of what I am taking? When do you suggest that I take them? 3 in the Morning and 3 at night?
Just a quick note: I am not sure if you read my post about this but my testosterone levels are no longer sky-high.
I had them drawn and the most recent results said they went down. But keep in mind that my results are normal as of now. Thanks for any suggestions with the fish oil.
Also I take flax seed in a pill form I do not drink it. I did hear from a man at the GNC that it is better to drink it because it goes into the bodies system better.

Re: For zane blue

I want to add that the reason my hormone levles were so high was because I was taking a lot of testesterone. I did talk about that didn't I?
I hope you don't think that my levels were that high on there own. I was taking testesterone every night.
Dont worry I am fine. I dont have a serious health issue.
Can I ask you a question? This is not meant to be rude or anything, but why do you assume that I have a health issuue when I told you I was taking testerone? If I told you that then why do you think that? What I am getting at is dont you think it is apparant that my levels are up due to the application of the testosterone?
I was just wondering about that. I do realize that my levels were high.
Thanks for all your information.

Re: For zane blue

The amount of testosterone given to women during HRT normally wouldn't even get women's levels to a small fraction of what yours were. That's why I am cautious. You say your levels are back to normal very suddenly. I can't remember if you posted your recent normal test results here, but if I am correct about the SHBG-lowering effects of my diet, if your total T levels are still extremely high it has the potential for shooting your free T way up (which generally is a good thing). In your case, you have already experienced very high free T levels with no change in libido.
For that matter, you have tried Wellbutrin without a change in libido either, so I'm not sure my diet would help you. I believe the way my diet works is by raising free T, balancing dopamine and serotonin, and improving circulation in the genital area. You have already tried the first two steps with medical approaches with no success.
In general my diet is extremely safe. I followed it during two pregnancies (of course without the chocolate or the PC muscles exercises involving internal weights). A pregnant or nursing woman should take pharmaceutical-grade fish oil to avoid the contaminants found in over-the-counter fish oil. Frankly the reason I stumbled upon that step was that fish oil was recommended to me to help with fetal brain development; I didn't orginally start taking it for FSD.
The only risks involved are from the iron and fish oil. Iron should not be taken by women who already have high levels of iron (hemachromatosis). And fish oil shouldn't be taken by anyone who is at risk if the blood is thinned--for example just prior to surgery, women on blood-thinning medication, or anyone who has been told to avoid aspirin or aspirin therapy. It's a similar effect on the blood to taking aspirin every day.
Basically in your case I'm just worried the diet may work--by altering hormonal levels. In your case that may not be a good thing. I suppose if you have your levels checked as you try the diet no harm could come from it. In general it's a very healthy approach. If you do try it, let me know how things work. I think it is likely your libido issues may have more to do with your aversion to being touched. On the other hand, that may have something to do with your prolactin and oxytocin levels, and the diet may help with that too, I'm not sure.
