reactive spasm

hello!
i've read a lot of the topics in this board, but i couldn't really find any answer to my question...
since i'm together with my actual boyfriend (1/2 year), my third sexual partner, i've got pain with intercourse. it has gotten worser and worser, so that at the moment, we've got one position left to do without having too much pain.
i've been to my GYN and he told me, that i've got reactive spasm in my vagina, so that as something reaches my vagina, it becomes cramped and gets painful. so he said, that this whole thing is psychsomatic and what he said is that i could use ibuprofen (painreliever), psychofarmaca or do psychotherapy.
so i looked over the internet to find pages from other people who've got the same problems and to find information about this and what is the best to do to get rid of it etc.. but: i can't find anything about this, what i mostly find are pages about vaginisme and i asked myself, perhaps that's just another name for what the doctor told me...
so, i want to ask you, if anybody knows more about this and can possibly help me... cause we don't know, where to start and what's good and helpful and what not...
thanks for your help!

Re: reactive spasm

It appears as if your doctor has diagnosed you with "vaginismus" which is an involuntary contraction of the muscles of the vagina. I usually find that this is an incorrect diagnosis, and the correct diagnosis is vulvar vestibulitis which is not treated by psychological treatments. See my article on this website about vulvar vestibulitis
www.ourgyn.com

quote:
Originally posted by Scheva:
hello!
i've read a lot of the topics in this board, but i couldn't really find any answer to my question...
since i'm together with my actual boyfriend (1/2 year), my third sexual partner, i've got pain with intercourse. it has gotten worser and worser, so that at the moment, we've got one position left to do without having too much pain.
i've been to my GYN and he told me, that i've got reactive spasm in my vagina, so that as something reaches my vagina, it becomes cramped and gets painful. so he said, that this whole thing is psychsomatic and what he said is that i could use ibuprofen (painreliever), psychofarmaca or do psychotherapy.
so i looked over the internet to find pages from other people who've got the same problems and to find information about this and what is the best to do to get rid of it etc.. but: i can't find anything about this, what i mostly find are pages about vaginisme and i asked myself, perhaps that's just another name for what the doctor told me...
so, i want to ask you, if anybody knows more about this and can possibly help me... cause we don't know, where to start and what's good and helpful and what not...
thanks for your help!

------------------
Andrew T.
