Needhelp, I wish I could say there was. A while back she told me they had found someone in the States willing to do the piece, and I haven't gotten a response from anyone saying who it might be.
So in that regard, nothing has changed since my last post both here and on EA.com.
I have another doctors appnt tmro, And I'm going to request some more things be tested as far as looking into my thyroid....and later in the day I'm seeing a psychologist, who I plan to discuss the EA with.
Hopefully I'll have something to share after that. And hopefully that TV interview is actually happening!

Any chance the surveys could be broken down into smaller segments...holy essay batman. It's a little intimidating, being so big. And by putting a few smaller ones together, they can focus on paticular aspects, instead of trying to cover all aspects you can think of in one shot.
-Lifestyle
-Sex Life
-Medical Symptoms
-diet/supplementations
There are 4 subjects that would make sense, no? And certain question could span two categories, maybe posed a little differently, or not. I think breaking it down into bite sized pieces is a good idea.

Hello all, I just made a post on ejaculatoryanhedonia.com, would appreciate if people could respond - Its in the "talking with Dr. Turek" thread.
1) asking if needhelp had any updates, and;
2) I've been contacted again by the person working with Discovery health, and they may be able to come do the filiming in Canada afterall. This for anyone new, or has forgotten, to interview a EA sufferer to gain some perspective and insight into what it's like dealing with it. And give it exposure to a larger portion of the medical community, and community in general.
It may happen soon, in a matter of weeks, so give me food for though, and refresh my mind on everything to do with EA. I've not been paying as much attention to the threads as I was previously, now that I'm working full time. I'm still the same, and haven't gotten around to trying any supplements, or changing my diet to eliminate gluten....
But my follow up for the sleep test is Saturday. had to cancel the last one due to a work conflict. SO from there, a doctors visit/further blood tests can be done. So in case I don't find all the suggestions made in the past (for things to be tested for) remind me again. Most are in the 'Blood test' section on EA.com, and you can see on EA.com what I have been previously tested for/suggested to have tested.
Thanks for the contributions of everybody, and hopefully the show producer gives the go-ahead for bringing the filming team into Canada!

Hey Michael, care to post those links up on ejaculatoryanhedonia.com? Great contribuition.
Although the revolutionhealth 'post vasectomy op issues' thread is modded by a jacka$$ big-shot doc. Of the "I'm a Doctor, and there's no way a vasectomy can affect your sex drive or orgasms because I say so, therefore its all in your head" variety.
At least on page one. Was sick of his responses to people after the first page. Still, good job on the studentdoctor thread, I hope he shows up here. If he has already, remind me who you are?

Doug (winsi) I can't tell you how much I appreciate you trying to step forward. Of course your situation is unique, but no one is the same. There are some common threads that connect our issues, like the SSRI's, vasectomies, etc. But it's great to see you as someone who can't attribute it to anything concrete is willing to talk about it.
When I say SSRI's were my cause or EA, I say that while not remembering what it felt like to have a real orgasm, if anything I'd say they weren't great even before I was on the drugs. But, my memory is pretty terrible, and there are for sure enough supressed/forgotten memories hiding up in this head of mine. I wouldn't say there was any major trauma, but I can relate to the "'not wanting to get caught" anxiety. No one want's to get walked in by their mom. I'm sure anyone feels that, to a degree, your's may have been much more substantial than most though.
Thanks again for sharing your story, I hope everyone on the forums shows support for what your trying to do

Alright, first, it would be great if one of you guys would step up and go ahead with the TV piece, I spilled my life story in just over an hour to a complete stranger, trying to do something that would help each and every one of us. Only to find out an insurance snag was too big a hurdle for me to take part. C'mon!
The thirsty/dry mouth thing, could have a lot to do with sleep apnea, not sure if you've ever been tested, or told you do things in your sleep you'd otherwise be unaware of. It might have nothing to do with that, but I'd look into it.
I've had a minor revelation with some info someone posted on ejactulatoryanhedonia.com, sorry I forget the username right now. He basically told me I had hypo as apposed to hyperthyroidism, which I always thought/assumed it was. And this is a maybe, more in depth blood tests to follow. But the site he led me to stopthethyroidmadness.com was amazing, and I think I definitely have a lot of hypothyroidism symptoms, but like I said, blood tests will confirm that.
I take back a previous comment about ED I alluded to. It's simply a case of condoms taking away the little sensation I feel, so maintaining an erection can be a pain in the ass. But outside of a condom, GF now being on the pill, and I'm sure it's just a lack of sensation issue. Damn crappy condoms making my sex life more difficult than it already is.

I've updated my post on EA.com, and added my blood test results. I got an email that isn't good news yesturday, from the show producer with Discovery Health -
Hi Trevor,
I found out we may not be able to go forward because you are in Canada. It is a matter of insurance. I am going to reach out the message board again to see if we can get someone in the US. We are checking on the insurance issue but I wanted to let you know.
Thanks,
M.
So, there it is.

Quick update, I finally got around to posting on Ejaculatoryanhedonia.com, if any new news RE: the TV show comes up, I'll start a fresh thread over there.
Go for a sleep test Wed night, and thurs morning I discuss the results with the on-hand doctor, and then go off to talk to the family doctor about the same thing, and also go over my blood test results. I specifically asked about Testosterone and Prolactin, but a lot of other things will be checked. I'll post up all the results on Thurs after the appointments

Well, if a moderator could make sure my email is visible in my profile (I've set it to, and it isn't, yet at least) that would be awesome. I also get a "fatal error" after each login/log-out, but that's resolved by hitting back on the browser and i'm either logged in or out like I was trying to do.
Had my doctor appointment today, got some blood tests done, also am getting my sleep tested at some point in the near future. This is something I've been meaning to do for a while, I want my blood tested to get an idea of where I am b4 I go ahead with any supplements. Then I can get further blood tests done to compare. So i'll have that data next week sometime to share.
Just completed that important phonecall. While I wanted to center the discussion around EA as much as I could, she wanted a picture of my life overall and other medical issues I was dealing with. So the depression and antidepressant drugs was discussed. But it wouldn't be the focus obviously.
At this point, she'll let me know in a couple weeks if I've been selected as someone to film as one of her 15 minute pieces, which really translates into 10-11 minutes or so of discussing our issue on Discovery Health/TLC.
Let's hope for the best, I think the conversation went well and she seemed genuinely interested

Done, and done. Didn't get a chance to check my emails until late today, But I've sent her an email as well as left a voicemail expressing I'd be willing to step in front of a camera. I'll most likely talk to her tomorrow.
As far as what Alan said, of course, this is going to be about EA and EA will be what the interview/I focus on. In the meantime, my email is so feel free to email me directly regarding things I should be looking to talk about, anecdotes, anything. If I'm going to do this, I want to do it right, and do everything I can to help the sufferers of EA.
Really happy to potentially have the opportunity to get this issue some media coverage.

I sent an email, a little bit about my background, current state of EA and how it makes me feel. Said that while I'd be happy to be the person to step forward, I feel there are more knowledgeable people with this condition than myself. I got a reply today,
Michele:
"Hi Trevor,
Thanks for your email. I appreciate you writing in. Needhelp may be considered if we do not find someone willing to speak out of the shadows."
So ya. If no one else feels like they can handle it, I'm not afraid to do it. The anhedonia affects how I feel about everything to a point, so I honestly don't think being camera shy is something I have to worry about. Really thought someone better suited would volunteer though.
And an update as far as my condition - at 24 years of age, I can't be in denial about ED being an issue any more. I can get it up, but it take a considerable amount of concentration/kegals to keep the baton waving. A lot of the time I can get 80% erect but not all the way. It's definitely annoying. Looking back on my sex life, its always kind of been there, to some extent. Came to this conclusion after a weekend in bed, not being able to perform how I feel like I should be able to. big bummer. But, at least there are pills/watermelon for this kind of thing.

3 conversation topics going on at once...Does no one want to move over to ejaculatoryanhedonia.com to start a more specific topic thread?
RE: Alan taking 5HTP with the GABA +....I asked earlier if he'd be able to document all the supplements he's taking, as it sounds like a lot more than just GABA +. It would really help everyone else trying to figure out the missing links and make some connections. The other site would be perfect, so it doesn't get lost in the pages of this thread.
This news needhelp brought to the table RE a potential TV spot on Discover is something we should be focusing on, as it's most likely time relevant. I'd love to see people step up and contribute, before it's too late

Absolutely amazing news needhelp . I'd jump at the oppurtunity to get the issue and profile of EA sufferers raised on a show like Discovery Health.
I'd love, love, love to volunteer. BUT, big but - I think someone like you would be the IDEAL candidate. You've lived with the issue for so long. Visited with all the doctors. Tried and been frustrated with all the different methods that haven't work.
In short, I feel like at the very least - it should be someone intelligent, like yourself, who's lived and dealt with the issue for a considerable amount of time - that should definitely be the one to go ahead with the interview/show.
There are the options of sitting in a shadow, having your voice altered. I think it would be best not to do that, because it just makes you less real/harder to relate to for the viewer.
Again, amazing, incredible news. I really hope some good candidates step up to the plate for this one!!!
And good luck to everyone out there, as always. I've managed to find myself in a happy relationship despite the EA/depression issues, so my overall mindset it a lot better these days. Which is a start.

Hey Alan, as your alluding to, maybe GABA isn't the miracle cure for AE, but simply the missing link as part of everything your taking. Would you be able to document your total supplement/dietary intake?
It would certainly be helpful for other to see the big picture of what your putting into your body that your getting these great results.
It would be great if you could also throw it up as a new thread/topic on ejaculatoryanhedonia.com as well, to get a specific discussion based on diet and supplements going there.
Certainly hope things continue for you, and that others can get a handle on this in the near future!

Mr Lewis. Your main 'Drive' is to procreate. An orgasm is just the awesomeness that motivates us to do it. So, you have a point, sure, the drive and motivation is lacking.
But like I said before. While it's something significant we're missing out on, it's not at ALL the only thing in a relationship worth pursuing.
I'm struggling with the same thing. With this, along with the depression, the drive and motivation to do anything is lacking. All you can do is work on improving the situation and not sit around feeling sorry for yourself. Take off the "victim" t-shirt, you'll be a better person for it.

Well I strongly feel like an orgasm is far from the most important thing in my life. Also in my early 20's, and I've thought about it. But I figure I'd rather have this issue than an unresolvable case of PE, I mean, how depressing would it be to climax b4/shortly into sex.
I'd rather concentrate on being a good lover and satisfy my partner, my opinion is there's a lot more to a relationship and life than an orgasm. That's my short answer

Sorry Alan, tried to email you personally, but it doesn't show your email in your profile, and sent a msg to the mods, they obviously didn't share my concerns. Last thing I wanted to do was rip anyone on the thread, but I felt it was a point that should have been made. I think more people would contribute to the thread if it wasn't dominated but just a few people/previously shared concerns.
The link Lostmojo put up if worth a look people. Thanks for having the open mind to understand what I was trying to say. I would have posted a link If I thought people would visit it...clearly neither option had any effect. What can ya do.
Now, as far as the flaming goes, try to cut it out. I stumbled on the term EA only a short while ago doing research on depression, and I've JUST caught up in the 2 threads, gathering as much information as I can so I can make the most informed decision/know what to talk to my doctor about. Everyone whose's contributed, I can't thank you enough. And I wish the best of luck to everyone dealing with EA, I strongly believe we'll come up with some answers with further PRODUCTIVE discussion.
From what I've read about Vitamin D it's being shown to be a lot for valuable than it's been given credit for in the past. Def recommend reading up on it, making sure you're getting enough Vitamin D, it doesn't look like you can get enough of it. This is especially important to people who live in regions with less sun in the winter season, like me, north of Toronto - you'll never get the required amount of Vitamin D from the sun alone, so consuming it through other means is key.
Something interesting I just learned yesterday. My uncle, a 55 athlete who runs triathlons and marathons all the time, just discovered he's allergic to gluten. His whole life he ate an unrestrictive diet, although more healthy as time passed. It's a hereditary thing and fairly prevalent. So I plan on giving him a call today, and finding out what I should get tested for. From what I heard 2 days into avoiding gluten the bugger is feeling better than he can ever remember feeling. The reason why I make note of this is mostly because my grandmother, his mom, was a very depressed person from what I remember of her. And from what I understand, she was as treatment resistant as they get. If she was gluten intolerant but spent her whole life suffering from the symptoms, never having it properly diagnosed, it would explain a lot. I RARELY visit the doctor, being healthy, fit and young (minus the depression) but the last time I went it was primarily because my stomache/intestines had been steadily bothering me. It was all written off as being depression/anxiety related at the time.
Just though people may find that interesting, I'll post after I've been tested

Ok. Talk about missing the point. Let me be clear. (people will hate me now! But i'm only being honest)
All I was trying to say was, follow some Forum 101
MULTIPLE POSTS in a row by the same person. Is a forum no-no. This can be avoided a few different ways.
-Condense what you have to post. Easy.
not repeating what the person DIRECTLY b4 you said, word for word. It's pointless. It's right there, a post before you. Whoever is reading the post's will have just read it. Look up the word "redundant", if you still don't understand what I'm saying.
( When should you quote something entirely? When it's well back and not as easy to connect to what your replying to. IE, A post on a previous page. Even then, you can paraphrase - Or simply refer to the person who posted - If a person want's to go back and read that post, they can do so.)
-Don't feel the need to respond to EVERYTHING, unless you have something to add or elaborate on. There's way too many repeated point's on this forum. Add people to msn/get an email address if you want to have a conversation back and forth. Come here when there's news to share/progress.
Alan, I'm not saying posting lot's is a bad thing, it just is if your constantly repeating things. of 18 pages now, how much good info is there, really.
Alan, replying to me saying "I haven't really tried anything" with the question "have you tried anything that has given you results?"....c'mon . I just said I haven't tried anything.
NOW, all i'm saying is this thread would be more valuable if it wasn't so watered down. Both for people who frequent the site and more so for people new to it.
This also goes for other people asking questions that have been ANSWERED already. Google it. search the forum. If that fails, then ask a question here.
4looking, chill. I already said I really appreciate what Alan has contributed, and welcome ANYONE with something to share to post something. Just adhere to a little forum etiquette. I knew what I had to say would rub people the wrong way, and I sugar coated it as much as I could.
/rant
As far as EA being crippling, that's a little exaggerated don't you think? Spinal injuries/MS/Parkinson's are crippling. Not experiencing orgasms, that just sucks LARGE. But have some perspective, it's not going to completely ruin your life.
I welcome everyone to try what Alan's trying, but one persons success, in the SHORT TERM, is far from qualitative evidence of a cure. I sure hope to hell it is, but be realistic. I personally would recommend a doctors supervision, and thorough testing, but that's just me. All this talk of rubbing testosterone on your testes and multiple doses a day, honestly, seems reckless and dangerous, IMO. Although I've suffered from EA for a good while now, I only came across the term EA a little while ago. I'm still collecting as much information as I can before I jump into putting anything into my body.
/2nd minor rant
UPDATE - I suffer from brutally cold hands/feet like someone mentioned. I know my mom's the same way, how awkward would bringing up the topic of her orgasms be :S
Would starting different threads for different groups of EA sufferers make sense? There's clearly a group of post/current SSRI people, those who've have vaseectomy's, people who've sustained injuries, and then people who fit the "other" profile.
And also, when you guys are rating your orgasms as 'good' 'better' it's hard to relate to you. Perhaps a number system is best "I usually have 2 out of 10 but after using this for 2 weeks I'm up to a 5"
I'd also like it if you guys seeing improvement could maybe explain a couple things as well. How is the lead-up to orgasm, and then how is the orgasm/contractions.
I'm personally at a fraction of 1. Never more. tiny lead up when I'm close to climax, after basically no enjoyable feeling during. Whoever first said "it's as satisfying as blowing my nose" nailed it for me. I generally have little sensitivity in my penis, wanted to add that too, describe the sensitivity. I've had many blow-jobs, but I've never felt any of them enough to enjoy them. I've always assumed the girls weren't very good, but I'm learning now it's clearly my issue.
OK sorry for flaming anyone, try to get the point's I'm trying to make. This forum will be more valuable for EVERYONE with a higher percentage of useful posts

Hey everyone. Only posted in the old thread and I've been checking back on the forum from time to time. 24, EA since first round of SSRI's, continue to deal with the depression issue (without meds since 03') which is honestly more of a problem in my life than not experiencing orgasms.
I'm not really doing anything to deal with the EA myself, but I'm interested in some of the ideas that are getting thrown around. I certainly appreciate you human guinea pigs trying different things. Alan, I hope what's working for you continues to work!
Now I just wanted to make a point, try to take it as constructive criticism Alan - your habit of double/triple/SIX IN A ROW posting is something you should try and eliminate. I totally appreciate that your 100% trying to help everyone out and be meticulous with all your posts - but it makes for a lot of reading for someone who's not checking the forum daily. Maybe just refer to people your responding to, as apposed to quoting word-for-word...and try to rehash less (more than one person could make a point of this btw). That would eliminate some of the volume of posts. Just a little bit of forum etiquette, sorry for busting your balls, like I said, the effort and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated. In short, less can sometimes be more

Alright, I've read the majority of this thread over the course of multiple days, trying to learn as much as I can. Figured I'd at least throw my name in as another sufferer, and share my case.
I can attribute my issues to previous use of an SSRI - Paxil. I used a few other SSRI's over the next half a year, but Paxil is when I changed forever. A few people have described very similar stories. I used the drug when I was 17 years of age, for about a month, and I can remember being surprised to find after a couple weeks I felt nothing while masturbating. It took ages to get to the point to where I could ejaculate, and the orgasm was barely noticeable. It was a complete waste of time and effort. Now, I've never discussed it with a doctor. It's something I've been confused about and suffered through until recently when I decided to do a little research of my own. Which of course, eventually led me here.
Without giving the run down on my entire life, I'm 24 now. Fit, never do drugs, rarely drink excessively, and I haven't been on anti-depressants since I was 18. I can only remember one worthwhile orgasm that happened a couple years ago, since before I was 17 anyway. It caught me by surprise, happened with a regular partner, and to put it into words that other people can relate to - I can definitely say I remember it feeling like I was able to build up a lot longer (I'm guessing, but let's say around 10 seconds) to a real climax and full body orgasm. I've never been able to recreate that or even remember how to, and believe me, I'm trying.
Can I definitely say Paxil was responsible for the onset of the problem? Without a doubt. But I do agree with the line of thought some people have been talking about...regarding it being a learned problem. Since it took so long to reach orgasm while on SSRI's, I can remember how I tried to climax faster at the time, since it wasn't worth waiting for. I just wanted to get it over with and move on. Memory isn't the greatest unfortunately, but I think it's a logical reason anyway.
I want to believe it's a learned problem, that can be un-learned...and not an everlasting side-effect of SSRI's. Although I truly believe Paxil was the reason it became a learned exercise in the first place.
Anyway. I'll continue to check on the thread, and add anything relevant I come across. Also happy to answer any questions, or give more details.
It's too bad no one's found a 'cure' or even a definitive cause to the issue of EA. But I'm a big believer in trying to maintain a positive frame of mind (while dealing with all the fun things associated with clinical depression). Nothings impossible.
