Re: testosterone cream?

shimeeze,
the 2% cream is way too strong. The usualy starting dosage for testosterone cream is about .25mg per day. My guess is that you are using way more than that right now.
If I were you, I would find a doctor who will do some testing.
I had a doctor like yours who gave me testosterone cream at too high a dose with no testing. I ended up with a mustache that took years to get rid of.
The doctor I eventually found did saliva testing which seemed to give a very accurate picture of my hormones...and also an indication of what sort of dose I needed.
I would suggest contacting womens international pharmacy they are very good at answering your questions and can work with your doctor to get you on the right dosage. I am not sure if they offer saliva testing but you could ask. Best Wishes
------------------
Becky in OHIO

[Note: This message has been edited by NEWSHE Moderator]

Re: testosterone cream?

i'm not sure i would say 2% is way too strong. It really depends. I've been using 2% for over a month now and have had some success with it without any noticable side effects. A lot depends on how much she is using and how often too, doesn't it? If she's having side effects (like undesirable hair growth) couldn't she just reduce the amount or frequency a little bit? Try to find the right balance?
eva

Re: testosterone cream?

Since the television talk shows have discussed the topic of testosterone supplementation, many women have started sailing to their doctors requesting testosterone to boost their sex drive. Many of these women report great results, if there truly is a testosterone deficiency. These results are: greater sex drive and functioning; greater sense of well-being and mood; and improved bone mineral density and muscle tone.
Unfortunately, some women use testosterone supplementation when there is no deficiency which can produce sumptoms such as increased facial hair growth, deepened voice, acne and mood disturbances.
You first need to have your doctor check your testosterone levels. And, if you decide to take testosterone replacement, follow up with blood tests to see if the levels improve after taking this treatment option.
If your doctor says your testosterone levels are already normal to begin with, get a referral for sexual counseling to help improve the situation.
In order to make the best choice as to whether to take testosterone supplementation or not, you first need to clarify whether you truly need them by discussing your symptoms with your doctor and discussing all approaches/treatments, and discussing the possible results of taking treatments.
Hope this helps.
