I am 48 years old and been perimenopausal the past year. Now my periods are unpredictable and I never know when I'm going to start or spot. How do I get my sex life back? Is there a way to stop the bleeding long enough to be romantic? This is driving my husband crazy, and I'm none too crazy about it, either. Help

Irregular periods during the perimenopause are a very common problem. They are most often caused by inconsistent production of hormones by the ovaries, but an evaluation by a Gyn Dr. should also rule out infection, pregnancy complications and even cancer. Once the cause is established, the flow can usually be stabilized and life becomes more normal again. One of the benefits of actually reaching menopause is the end of these crazy bleeding patterns. Life actually gets better, not worse, in many ways.
