new scent: is it from peri hormones?

My genital area has a new scent or odor eminating from down yonder. It's sort of unpleasant; I'm not thrilled with it.....About 10 days ago I had spotting or a "mini-period" in the middle of the cycle. That ended, and this interesting aroma has emerged. I don't have symptoms of BV or yeast.... Is this a side effect of perimenopause?
