TOPIC: grey shadows above lips

grey shadows above lips

I stopped taking any kind of hormonal treatment after being on low doeses for a couple of years to see if the hot flashes or dizzyness would return. Three years later... they have not reappeared, however I was wondering what can be applied to the grey shadows that have emerged aboved the lipline. I have been told that some women going through post memopause may experience these in other areas on their face. I have purchased various bleach products from Nordstroms but non have worked to date. Has anyone out there had success or obtained credible knowledge in this area. Thanks!

Re: grey shadows above lips

I suggest you see a dermatologist. Declining estrogens at menopause are associated with a breakdown of collagen. And, it also coincides with a decrease in oil production. This may cause womens' skin to become dry-looking, dull and the skin may lose elasticity.

Some of the telltale signs of aging are fine laugh lines and age spots. And, particularly when you are in your 50s and 60s, skin color begins to fade.

I would recommend staying out of the sun, cleansing and moisturizing to remove dead cells, protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays and exfoliate. There are specialty items the dermatologist may recommend which may include skin lighteners.
