TOPIC: Mood drops

5 years, 7 months ago #31832

Mood drops

I'm 48 years old and about once a month I experience what I call a "mood drop". The most noticeable one occurs between the end of my period and ovulation. It lasts for 2 to 3 days and it's not fun. The mood bottoms out but I continue to put on a happy face for the outside world, especially at work, but at home I become very quiet and just suffer through it. It passes and I'm fine. There has got to be a hormone element to this because I'm on an anti-depressant already (but no hormone treatment of any kind). My periods have become a little lighter in the flow department but are still regular and I've been having the usual night sweats and mild flashes. I've always had PMS but this is different. I'm not bi-polar either. Does anyone else's hormones do this to them, and dare I ask, what did you do to treat this? Thanks.

Re: Mood drops

Maybe the particular anti-depressant you are on IS somehow interacting with your hormones. Can you ask whoever prescribed them to you more about it? Maybe if you try a different anti-depressant you won't feel these side-effects. Just a thought. Keep us posted!
