New to boards

I have been showing menapuse symptoms since I was 35, I'm now 40. Most of my family has started in pre-mature menopause about the same age. It seems to run in the family.
When my dr. does blood work he says that all my levels are normal and I'm not in menopause. If I'm not in menopause then how do I have all the symptoms.
I have hot flashes, night sweats, low libido, little to no sensitivity to my clitoris, troubles with deadorants not working anymore, crawly skin, migranes, vaginal dryness (still have some moisture but it is decreasing), and started having trouble with tightness in the vagina (did some research and found out it is called vagisism - got lube, dildo and vibe to help with this - it's now not a problem, but don't know if it could return).
My husband of just over 20 yrs, and I are working together to try and help my symptoms. I see my dr. on Wednesday to find out results of last lot of blood tests and get a referral to a speacialist to treat symptoms. I'm hoping this time the test actually show something is wrong. If they don't then my dr. won't want to do anything for me.
Sure could us some advise on how to deal and how long menopause usually lasts?
Thank you

Re: New to boards

I saw my dr. today for the lastest blood tests. Finally the blood tests say I'm in menapause. It's about time.

Levels are good though and due to family history he's rluctant to put me on estrogen. My husband and I have been able to come up with some solutions for a few of the symptoms of menapause, so unless the symptoms get unbearable my dr. won't put me on any kind of treatment.

I understand why. Being put in a higher risk of cancer and heart conditions isn't what I need, not with my family back ground. We'll just have to learn to deal with things as they happen.

When I'm not interested in sex, but my husband is, I find that if I start the interest will start as well. So to deal with the low libido, I am just trying to ignore it and be more receptive toward my husband. I have even found myself having wet dreams, and waking up very aroused. This is something I never had much of before. I've had two in the last week.

We have found a message of my lower back gets sensitivity back in the clit and even without sensitivity I can have a g spot orgasm.

Hot flashes and night sweats aren't to bothersome right now. I use a fan at night and when I get a hot flashes, I remove a layer of clothes and wash off with a cold clothe.

I'm gonna pick up the stuff for zaneblues diet and see how that works out too.

Re: New to boards

Welcome to your menopause! It sounds like you're relieved to be there... The most important thing to remember is you're not alone. There are many women who are in your same situation.

It must be very consoling to have your husband right next to you. It sounds like he is very understanding of your situation.

Have you thought about starting a menopause journal? Often times, it helps to take a closer look at your symptoms and assess the progression and intensity of them. Also, if you write everything down, you'll find communicating with your doctor is easier since you don't have to "remember" everything...

Also, don't forget there is not a one-size-fits-all cure for relieving symptoms. Hormone therapy may or may not be the right decision for you. Discuss all of your options thoroughly with your doc before committing to any kind of therapy. Sometimes it's just all about finding the right combination of remedies for your particular symptoms.

I wish you good luck and hope you will find help from some of us on these boards!
