Nausea....waking up in middle of night

I am brand new to this board and hoping someone can help me. I have suffered from Perimenopause for almost 7 years now, I am 50.

All of the symptoms seemed to have disappeared for about 6 months, and now they are back and worse. I wake up in the middle of the night with horrible nausea, and sometimes anxiety. I can get a milder form of the anxiety in the daytime as well.

Is this part of peri? What can I do to quell the nausea? And what causes all of this to come back so bad?

Re: Nausea....waking up in middle of night

Your symptoms sound typical of perimenopause. The fluctuations in your hormones are causing you to have symptoms that are similar to those of menopause. You are waking up for a reason at night... do hot flashes (night sweats) initially wake you up at night? Do you snore? Does your partner snore? Do you have to get up to go to the bathroom? Sleep problems at menopause are common and you should discuss your symptoms with your doctor. They can help you find a treatment depending on the underlying cause.

It's common during perimenopause to experience a combination of symptoms of PMS and menopause. Sleeplessness and anxiety can accompany both PMS and menopause. So, maybe the "reappearance" of your symptoms are cyclic and due to PMS.

Anxiety is also common. Don't be concerned about experiencing a moderate amount of anxiety but seek a professional if it becomes overwhelming, persistent or continues to keep you up at night. Nausea is a common physical symptom that accompanies Anxiety. Try to pinpoint what it is you're anxious about but don't linger on it.

It sounds really frustrating. Do you have difficulty falling back to sleep?
