Hasimoto Disease

I read the article you had on Hashimoto Disease. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago but had the condition for almost 30 years. Does anyone know a good endocrinologist in the Tampa,FL area that specializes in this?

Re: Hasimoto Disease

If you contact a teaching hospital in the Tampa area they may be able to refer you to the correct specialist.

What sort of measures do you take to treat your thyroid disorder?

Re: Hasimoto Disease

I am soon to be a 51 year old with hashimotoes thyrooooiditis since age 12. I have had 3/4 of it removed at Shands in Jax. You need to find a good endocringologist in the Tampa are maybe try a teaching hoospitial ask for a TSH test with T3 and T4 and also a punch needle biopsy or fine needlebiopsy followed by a sonogram to see how big your throid is .If any nodules on it too, for when yur thyroid acts up so does rest of yur organs. Mine was hard as frozen choclate I endured 8 years of testing going step by step nd finally the last punch needle biopsy using a unltraound machine didnot come up with anything. they did the surgery that Am. Spent the night overnoight so i wouldnot have a Thyroid storm and went home. YOu canot even see my scar. i am on 112 miligrams of synthroid a day. i am alsoa survivor of 2 heart atacks on altace and lipitor and not taking anything for my menopause symptoms at all. Cannot it makes my hart act up. But best of luck with geting yout thyrooid checked out. You never said if you are on any medication for it or was a routine Blood test that showed it was acting up.But best of luck please keep us posted on how everything goes ok. heidi

Re: Hasimoto Disease

I would recommend that you contact THe Thyroid Foundation of America. Their number is 1-800-832.8321. Their website is www.tsh.org. If you go onto their website, you will see a section to find a doctor in your area and also an area that you can ask a doctor your question. This is a great resource. Hope that you are doing better, and thanks for logging onto our site.
