Recently, I've had a lot of pain with intercourse that no amount of astroglide seems to help and I'm sore and burning for days after. I've also been getting a lot of UTIs from the irritation.

My doctor put me on Femring (with Prometrium). Her idea is to use it just for a couple of months to "jump start" things and then switch to a topical/local estrogen such as Estring.

I've been reading about Femring online and they say it shouldn't be used for vaginal symptoms only so I'm wondering if it's safe. I have to say like it so far. Things are plumper and juicier than they've been in years. I'm only going to be using it short term so I'm not TOO worried, but I don't want to take too many chances.

How long do you have to use it before you feel the full effects?

I'm not having other menopause symptoms. My night sweats stopped months ago and I haven't had a period in six months. (Please don't hate me)

I have known two women who were on Femring that switched to Estring for that same reason. This wonder disc self lubricates me and truly makes me purr. Estring cleared up all my soreness within two weeks when the doctor told me up to six weeks. Things were again ready to go.....I think you will like it when you change....Take care, Caroline
