If a woman had cervical cancer and had her uterus and went into menopause after treatment, Can she get pregnant. Please I need to know the answer soon, very important very important.

Lene, I passed your question along to Red Hot Mamas medical advisor, Dr. Mache Seibel. So, your question is basically; if a woman has cervical cancer that was local and the cancer was removed but the uterus still left in, can pregnancy occur? Is that right?

Here is Dr. Seibel's response:
"It is never easy to know who can get pregnant. It depends on both the woman and the man. However, if the woman is still having periods and the cervix is still left in, it is possible. It might require seeing a fertility expert to help with putting sperm into the uterus at the time of ovulation (because the cervix can become narrow or the glands that make mucus can be reduced in number so sperm can't live as long), or careful observation during pregnancy might be needed to be sure the cervix does not open prematurely. But in theory, if the uterus is still in it is possible.

If the woman is also in menopause but still has her uterus, she might be able to get an egg from another woman (egg donation) and conceive with her partner's sperm and have the resulting embryo inserted into her uterus. If the woman is in menopause and had her uterus removed, there is no way to have a baby.

The best thing to do is to make an appointment with a fertility specialist to discuss your specific issues in detail."
