I just started bioidentical hormone replacement for my post menopausal problems. Proestrogene, estrogen and testostrone. Mainly low sex drive, vaginal dryness, anxiety attacks, hot flashes. Has anyone else tried this treatment? If so, how long before I might start feeling the benifits?

The goal of hormone therapy is to optimize your comfort. It's also very important not to forget to include exercise (which raises endorphins so you feel better) and studies show that women who exercise also have less hot flashes. Every woman's body is different in the way the effects of HT works. You will know the results in how well you are feeling. There are different formulation dosages,and delivery systems. All these play into effect and it's not unusual when initially starting HT that you will have to work with your doctor in fine tuning it. My suggestion would be to have your hormone levels checked every six month when you first begin taking HT and be patient, as HT may take several months to become fully effective.

Hi Mammyone, I started vivelle dot , prometrium ( oral) and testosterone gel over a year ago. I still have brain fog , I still cant sleep , I still dont have any sex drive... none... but my hot flashes went away after being on it for just a few weeks. My blood test results are now all in the "normal" range according to my DR. Hope you have better luck than I did.

A good book to read to help you with this is "From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well" by C. W. Randolph, MD. He also has a website, hormonewell.com. I have gotten a lot of relief from progesterone cream (natural, BHRT) You can use more or less of the metered pump depending on your symptoms. You must learn about estrogen dominance to feel comfortable with using the bio-identical cream. I fully believe in its health benefits.
