How fast can you complete menopause

How fast can you go to "complete Menopause"? and does this indicate how bad your symptoms are?
Im only 46. I was haveing horrible emotional symptoms and missed two periods. I thought I was pregnant! The gyn did hormone test and said I was in "complete Menopause"
