Re: Could vestibulitis be caused through surgical trauma suc
Most vulvar specialist believe that vestibulitis is caused by an allergic reaction (often to yeast medications), not from trauma. However, you can get growth of a "ball of nerves" called a neuroma at the site of an incision (from an episiotomy). Neuromas are often very painful.
Dr. Goldstein

quote:
Originally posted by julie080402:
Hello Doctor:
I was wondering if vestibulitis could be caused through vulva trauma such as a mediolateral episiotomy?? I have a red swollen area right next to the scar tissue and thought that maybe that could have started it?? I have gone to a specialist who diagnosed it as vulvar vestibulitis. I also had chronic yeast syndrome for 2 years which was cured by sporanox, yeast-free diet and herbs through a homeopathic doctor, which worked 100% Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Anne-Marie

------------------
Andrew T.
