New problems after hysterectomy

Hi, I had a radical hysterectomy 2 years ago after fighting endometriosis for many years with Lupron and surgeries. I used to have an amazing sex life with my husband before the surgery even with the endometriosis pain. Since the surgery, I've been diagnosed with Pericarditis, Interstitial Cystitis, had much weight gain but sadly, I have not had pleasurable sex after the surgery. I have zero libido and when we do try to have sex, it burns inside my vagina, outside of the vagina as well as extreme pain against my bladder and in the vagina. We have tried many lubricants, but none help. I have been able to orgasm with the help of a vibrator, but the orgasms pale to the intensity that I used to have. I am only 34 yrs. old, please help! I use homeopathic solutions for my hormones since traditional medicine did not work. I still have excrutiating hot flashes. Is it because I lack a cervix and ovaries? Could the anti-depressant for the Interstitial Cystitis be causing much of the problems? Do I need reconstructive surgery? Any good dr.'s in Las Vegas, NV?

Re: New problems after hysterectomy

Since the radical hysterectomy has put you in surgical menopause you might want to also post on our Menopause forum, and visit www.redhotmamas.org for more information.

Re: New problems after hysterectomy

I think that you are lacking the necessary hormones for vulvar health and libido. In addition, it is possible that the muscles of the pelvic floor are very tight after the surgery. Obviously, you need to be evaluated by a vulvar specialist to get it worked out.

Re: New problems after hysterectomy

I have been bleeding since April. I've been to the gyn and have been told that I have endometriosis with scar tissue attaching my uterus to one of my ovaries. I also have fibroids and my uterus is the size of a woman that is 6 months pregnant. The doctor put me on birth control pills to stop the bleeding but it hasnt helped. The doctor said that I'll need a hysterectomy so I will be having a hysterectomy soon. I'm 33 years old and usually have a very healthy sex drive. I haven't had much of a sex drive since April. I am concerned that after the hysterectomy I wont have one at all. My other concern is that the vaginal muscle will not be tight anymore. Is your sex drive gone after a hysterectomy and does your vagina become loose after a hysterectomy?

Re: New problems after hysterectomy

Thank you for those links.. I was fishing around on both sites. Clicking on different links but I found an article that answered my question about the vaginal muscle. I've place the link below in case there is someone else wandering the net looking for the same answer.

Thanks Dolly, we don't allow links to other sites without permission. I will leave it up without the linking part.

Re: New problems after hysterectomy

Dolly, I don't think I necessarily have seen a loss of tone in the muscles immediately post hysterectomy. Yes there can be hormonal changes which result in atrophy of muscles in the long term. Yes, when something is removed, as in a hysterectomy, changes will occur in the remaining organs, ligaments, etc. Again this may lead to muscle changes. But still i would not call this "loose" muscle. There may be weakness, but that can be regained.
