Vulvar Vestibulectomy & vaginal advancement

I'm STILL not sure exactly what a vulvar vestibulectomy is (and really not sure what a vaginal advancement is), but that's what I had done back in march of 2007. After the birth of my son a year prior to that, I had a lot of pain at my episiotomy site. SO much so that every time it was touched (and definitely during intercourse) it felt like I was being cut all over again. Great deal of pain. Turns out I did have a ton of scar tissue causing the pain. So I had the surgery. I believe that I have more discomfort now (not as much full blown pain) than I did before the surgery. It gets irritated CONSTANTLY. If I wear thong underwear more than 2 days in a row (clean ones each day mind you...haha) the entire perinium and episiotomy site get inflammed and raw and itch. Plus I still have SO much discomfort during intercourse that I just stopped having it. My husband is miserable. Ha. I also believe that I have a prolapse of some sort although the surgeon claimed I didn't and that is causing discomfort as well. I'm desperate for someone who will tell me what the "prolapse" or "thing" sticking out of me is as well as someone to fix this horrible issue I'm having...

I don't know how much longer I can proceed like this...

PLEASE HELP!

WiseCovert,if I were you I think I would make a beeline to your GYN and get a diagnoses and treatment for what is bothering you and causing such discomfort.Your GYN will be able to examine you and give you relief.
Here are two websites with very informative articles you may like to read.

Re: Vulvar Vestibulectomy & vaginal advancement

WiseCovert,
If there is scar tissue, pelvic floor physical therapy can help release this. Women are likely to have painful intercourse after an episiotomy, but do get good results with the physical therapy. I agree w/moderator and go see gyn. You do also need to rule out things such as infections in the area.
Also, physical therapy can help relieve some symptoms of a prolapse if you do have one.
good luck

Re: Vulvar Vestibulectomy & vaginal advancement

WONDERFUL! I will do that. I am in the process of trying to find a new GYN because the other ones said, "Oh that's normal" or "Try Premarin"....neither of which are acceptable or helpful. Haha. And I KNOW this isn't normal. Ha. Thank you SO much for your insight!! Hopefully a new GYN will actually "get it" and help me fix these issues.
