Dr Goldstein, is the hymen included in the "vestibu

I have had vaginal pain on contact for 10 years. I can't afford a specialist so I'm trying to do my own research.

I have pain in the vestibule but only where it's very close to the hymen (not further out). I have a painful hymen on the outside (vaginal entrance) but also feel the pain inside the hymen (maybe 1/4''-1/2'' inside vaginal opening)

Is the hymen included in the vestibule? Can vestibulodynia pain be confined to the area's I described?

I have searched the boards but haven't found an answer to this question.

Thank you, the first article answered my question in the sentence that states "In vulvar vestibulitis syndrome, the vestibule and the hymen have too many nerve endings and are very tender when touched lightly with a cotton swab."

I had not found an article adding the hymen into vvs.

mitsi-mommy in the second link I gave you if you go to the section called Materials and Method there is a detailed description of the operation and a discussion about how the hymeneal ring is envolved.

Re: Dr Goldstein, is the hymen included in the "vestibu

the hymen is the embryonic border between two different tissue types-so to be specific the vulvar side of the hymen is vulvar and the vaginal side is vaginal. I always remove the hymen when performing a vestibulectomy as this ensures that I have removed all vestibular tissue.
