Correct Diagnosis and Treatment? Question for Dr. G

Dear Dr, G,
Yesterday I was diagnosed with a Lichen issue but not specifically which one, as well as vestibulitis. I was given Clobetasol and Lidocaine. told to use the clobetasol 1x per day for 30 days, then every other day after that. I was told to use the lidocaine 4x per day. then i have a follow up in april. I am wondering if there is a way to know exactly which Lichen i have and if it is necessary to find that out. I did have a biopsy and it showed inflammation consistant with Lichen Sclerosis, so I am wondering why planus was brought up. I am also wondering why only Lidocaine was prescribed for the VVD. I brought up physical therapy and was told I could look into it, but it wasn't initiated by the NP. I have an appointment scheduled with you in NY on 4/9 (I live in MA) but was wondering your thoughts before then. I can't spend another months in pain, I can barely function as it is. Thanks for your help.

Re: Correct Diagnosis and Treatment? Question for Dr. G

Dr G,
To add to my posting above. 2 other obgyns did not think I had lichen, even with the biopsy, they said it was just inflammation from the VVD. the obgyn i saw yesterday who said it WAS lichen, said it was because my labia was shrinking and the skin was pale. I just read in one of your postings that Labia can be uneven or small in places naturally. I was also diagnosed with atrophic vaginitis, because i have been breastfeeding for 9 months and have not had a period yet, which can also make the labia look pale. I am concerned that I have been diganosed with Lichen Sclerosis, Lichen Planus, VVD and atrophic vaginitis. Is that possible? It seems like they are throwing everything and the kitchen sink at me, and all i have to show for it is a tube of lidocaine and clobetasol.
thanks for listening and I appreciate any help you can give.

Re: Correct Diagnosis and Treatment? Question for Dr. G

Niva,
Who would u recommend? I just started seeing Stacey Berger at South County Physical Therapy. I have appointments lined up with Raquel Perliss, but the earliest I could get in is the end of May. I tried contacting Holly Herman a few times, but have not heard back.
Thanks for the help!

Email me and I'll give you the names of a few good PTs in Massachusetts. I'm a urogyn NP and deal with PTs frequently.

Urogyn NP, email addresses are not allowed in posts. If you put it in your profile others can contact you that way.
