TOPIC: Question for the Dr

Question for the Dr

I am 6 months post op from a TAH/BSO (8/5/08). Everything was great - including sex until the first weekend of December. My hubby and I had sex three times between Saturday and Sunday that weekend and I have had soreness since.

I used topical creams to get me through to dr appointment on 12/18. I had been using Premarin Cream and a culture couldn't be taken that day due to it. Was told to Premarin more frequently - maybe not enough estrogen. Didn't help. Stopped using it - culture two weeks later had bacterial infection and was given Cipro 5 days).

Called dr office still symptoms and lumpy white discharge, given Terazole (5 days). Still symptoms. Had another culture showed nothing. A week later still symptoms, another culture - nothing. A week later still symptoms, dr thought looked like yeast prescribed Gynazole (one dose). Results of culture came in on Tuesday and the results were negative.

Dr office called me yesterday think I may have vulvodynia, want me to take Elavil. I am not sure about this.

I was switched to Vagifemm the first of February in case I had a sensitivity to the Premarin cream although i hadn't use the cream for a month and was still having symptoms.

Wondering if I migh be sensitive to the Vagifem or low testosterone causing discomfort. My sexual response is much lower than it used to be, take more vigorous stimulation to achieve orgasm - coul it be over stimulation too?

Or was is a yeast infection all along and then a sensitivity to the treatments?

I am frustrated and don't kwow what to do now.

Re: Question for the Dr

if you are experiencing pain upon penetration, it is possible that you are treating vaginal atrophy with the Premarin cream but not vulvar atrophy. If your regular gynecologist can't figure it out, see a specialist.
