Niva/Dr Goldstein/Vestibulodynia

Hey Niva

I have pain in 4, 6 & 8 oclock with pelvic muscle tightness. My question is this, the women that you see with pain in the vestibule at this location- is this always treated effectively with pt? Also, botox if I were to get that into the pelvic muscles, do you know if it would take that pain away ( 4, 6 &

Re: Niva/Dr Goldstein/Vestibulodynia

This is probably a question to be addressed more to Dr Goldstein, but what percentage of women that get botox have problems with incontinence- fecal or regular, I would freak if I had this in addition to the vestibule pain so was curious if this is a very minor risk or if you have had women experience this

Sarah1-"always" is a strong word...
botox may take pain away, but it might not take all of your pain away. I guess nothing is a guarantee, but it does work well. It also may make the work done in PT last longer. I know I always feel like it helps reducing the pelvic tightness.

Re: Niva/Dr Goldstein/Vestibulodynia

Niva,

You wrote that always is a strong word- are you saying there are instances that pain in that location it is not treatable with pt, and if so, why? I think mine has to do with my muscles which are tight. So Im wondering why pt would not remedy this problem in all instances?
Also, can you try to describe the connective tissue work done on the vestibule. The pts I have seen never did this, thank you

Niva

I posted on one of the other categories and maybe Dr Goldstein will see this as well. I have pain at 4 6 and 8oclock on my vestibule and I know for certain ( this is the only thing I do know for certain) is that I do have PFD. Ok my question for you and the doctor is this. If 4 6 and 8
is indicative of PFD then why would botox and/or pt not remove the pain from this area? Im not following this at all, thank you

Re: Niva/Dr Goldstein/Vestibulodynia

I guess this bring me back to my original question to the doctor of how he knows that pain at 4 6 and 8 is caused by PFD and how he knows that the pain at those points does not actually causing the PFD as one of my doctors suggested and something I had read as well. I just really want to find the answer to this. I know I have been posting alot, but this is very frustrating for me
thank you

Re: Niva/Dr Goldstein/Vestibulodynia

Vestibular pain can be all due to muscle tightness but sometimes there is more. I have never met you, nor have I examined you so I can't tell you if your 4,6 and 8 pain is only due to mm tightness. Yes, some patients get better w/ PT and that is all they need, but others need other treatments in addition to the PT.

Re: Niva/Dr Goldstein/Vestibulodynia

so if that is the case could botox be used diagnostically to let me know if it is infact just muscular. I mean if it is truly just muscular, wouldn't injection of botox get rid of the pain? And if not, why not.

thanks
